Business Systems Analyst - SQL or Business Intelligence

Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 Employment Type: Full Time, Employee Expected Duration: 1+ to 2 Years Pay Rate: 50,000.00 - 70,000.00 USD /yearExcellent Benefits Partner with senior management in the development of timely and concise information to effectively evaluate business processes and practices. Display high ethical standards and judgment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES§ A team player with excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills§ Liaison with the Business Analysts and Clients to develop business requirements documentation.§ Create construction project plans, design documentation and accurate estimates of time and effort to complete a project.§ Deliver business solutions within agreed upon time constraints§ Automate and optimize business solutions§ Look for opportunities to improve business and information systems processes§ Educate key business users to promote the spread business and system knowledge throughout the team.§ Troubleshoot production problems in a timely manner and introduce the solution to the production process.§ Participate in mentoring your fellow team members§ Adhere to code and process standards.§ Participate in staff development and technical skills seminars and insurance education courses as needed.  High ethical standards and judgment.§ Conduct yourself in an ethical manner POSITION QUALIFICATIONS§ Bachelors Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science; or equivalent experience. § 3+ Years experience working with relational databases, MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, and Informix.  This includes the ability to design databases, write stored procedures and optimize queries.§ Knowledge of one or more of the following and business intelligence tools: Hyperion, Brio, Analysis Services, Business Objects, Cognos, SAS, MicroStrategy and/or similar business intelligence tools.§ Knowledge of ETL tools such as Microsoft DTS, Informatica, Sagent, and/or similar ETL tools.§ Experience working in all areas of full lifecycle projects using JAD, RAD, etc... techniques.§ Ability to write business documents such as: business requirements, program specifications, project plans, design and support documents.§ HTML and other web publishing tools preferred.§ Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access required.§ Good organizational skills and ability to work under deadline pressure is essential.§ Ability to communicate with people at all levels of internal and external organizations.§ Ability to work with large volumes of data with great attention to detail.§ Experience with property and casualty insurance or similar financial industry preferred. Please apply Online
