Computer Support Services/Help Desk Technician

We are seeking a Support Services Technician to provide support and maintain software and hardware on the Point of Sale systems and desktop systems.

 

TYPICAL DUTIESResolve store system problems and desktop related problems.  Some problems may require travel to the location and after-hours monitoring.Install the POS system in stores and train personnel in the basic system operations.Assemble, configure, and repair POS systems and desktop systems.Monitor calls on the ACD phone system to provide assistance to our customers.Create job tickets to document all support calls.Provide support for the Time and Attendance system.  Troubleshoot, repair or replace hardware/software as needed at all store and other corporate locations.Maintain and troubleshoot the traffic counter system in all stores.  Arrange vendor repairs as needed.Provide on-call pager support, on a rotational basis, to users after hours and on weekends using department cell phone.  May use company provided PC system for home use and may use a personal computer with company provided software.Remain current on all software packages used by the Point of Sale system and all other standard and programs used by desktop systems.Provide support for Citrix users as required.  Maintain the Citrix server equipment as necessary.Provide support for printers at stores and corporate.  May include basic troubleshooting, toner changes and coordination of vendor for repairs.Monitor network backup tape/drive systems and label/rotate media for off-site storage.Ability to lift 50 lbs, walk, sit, and type for long periods of time.

 

 

EXPERIENCE NECESSARY:

3 TO 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH ms-dos AND ALL VERSIONS OF Microsoft Windows, especially Win SP.  Experience configuring/installing computers and basic networks.

 

SKILLS/EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent.  Microsoft, Novell, or Cisco training desired:  MCP preferred.  Formal education or previous experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform all duties, as outlined herein.  Emphasis on excellent people skills and excellent communication skills.  Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Professional Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook), all windows operating systems including, Internet use, and Windows applications user interface.  MAC experience also desired.  Ability to document and compile accurate and complete reports.

 

This position requires work time flexibility; some weekend and/or evening, after-hours schedules.  May require some travel; local and/or other states.
