Align Communications, a 21-year old IT Solution Provider has built a growing Data Center practice servicing Global 1000 companies in industries as diverse as financial services, pharmaceutical & healthcare, retail, technology and telecommunications. We are searching for a seasoned and successful Data Center Strategist to advance this expanding practice area. This position will help deliver solutions in the field of platform technologies such as data center rationalization (DCR) assessments and server/storage/data center consolidation business cases.

Essential Requirements:A minimum of 10+ years in professional services or relevant industry experience, and be a subject matter expert in Data Center Solutions.Demonstrated success in a trusted advisor role establishing credible working relationships, managing client expectations, and providing counsel and solution options to enterprise clients’ senior management and technology executives.Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) and possess excellent presentation skills.A combination of working technical knowledge and a strategic understanding of current and future data center requirements.Ability to support the continued development of a collaborative team of professionals focused on assisting clients in planning, preparing and managing the cost/risk of advanced data center deployments.
Responsibilities: Responsible for setting strategy & identifying the opportunity in all data center engagements. Work with senior executive level clients, vendors, and operations staff to ensure solutions fit within global architecture and integrate the design with the client's future IT direction.Provide executive level consulting to clients regarding process review and design, needs and risk assessment, and global data center strategies.Evaluate and anticipate market and industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to design and develop proprietary project approaches and methodologies.Communicate the impact of technology/industry trends and to sales and marketing organizationsActively participate in business development by partnering with the sales team, adding value to key client interactions, translating business requirements, and guiding the development of viable solutions.Understand the business/strategic architecture considerations related to information technology projects within large, global infrastructures and Fortune 500 Companies.Foster strategic partner relationships, and pursue opportunities to enhance service offerings to expand Align’s presence and market share .Drive continuous enhancement of our methodologies and documented best-practices.Contribute to the professional and technical development of our team members, knowledgebase, and intellectual capital.
General Skills and Experience:Strong “C” level influencer with previous experience advising executive level decision makers10+ years of relevant professional experience including Professional Services, IT Consulting, Project Management, Data Center Design, Enterprise Data Center Operations, or Facilities Management.Ability to understand business requirements, formulate solutions, develop business case justifications, provide cost/benefit analysis, and communicate ideas clearly.Highly developed and refined executive-level, consultative skills, and well practiced and proven counseling techniques.Effective leadership skills including the ability to mentor others.A demonstrated record of successfully designing and deploying Mission-Critical, Enterprise Data Centers (several hundred servers and/or mainframe-based applications) requiring stringent uptime service levels and maintaining desired level of production availability and reliability during transition efforts.Ability to deliver strategic, enterprise level needs assessments leveraging well-honed business analysis skills and a finely tuned needs and risk assessment methodology Prior experience partnering with sales teams to quantify operational, financial, and business advantages of the proposed solution for the customer. Excellent conceptualization, articulation/presentation skills are essential.Working knowledge of Data Center Facilities Design & Management including Power & Utilities, HVAC, Space Planning, Security (Physical), Geographic Site Selection, Architecture Design, Floor Plans, Cabinets, and Cabling.Possess an understanding of application sensitivity and the dependencies between servers and applications.ITIL, RCDD, PMI, CISSP, CBCP, or MBCP related certifications are a plusMBA desired.
