Job Description:

Seeking a Data Center Technician to support corporate system admin team. We are looking for someone that values teamwork and communication as tools to do their job. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the physical servers, cables and racks of the data center and complete the hardware and OS installation component of server install requests before passing them on to a System Administrator. The chance to work with a broad range of network technologies, NAS/SAN storage technologies, clustering and administration of enterprise-level hardware is a key benefit of this position and will present valuable opportunities for a motivated individual.

Duties:

• Handle incoming shipments and track server assets through deployment

• Perform hardware installations of servers

• Perform OS installations of Linux, FreeBSD & Windows

• Troubleshoot and resolve basic system issues from our support/ticketing system

• Use in-house tools to administer user accounts, OS updates, etc.

Skills:

• Must be able to multitask

• Must be able to work under pressure

• Must work well in a team environment

Must Know:

• Must be knowledgeable about the Internet in general and how it works

• Must know the basics of a network (Cross over cable vs straight through, 10/100/1000 base T, patching)

• Must be familiar with basic administration tasks on Windows and Unix

• Must be capable of handling 50-70 pound systems securely (Heavy lifting is required)

Not necessary, but beneficial to know:

• Datacenter practices: cable routing, calculating power usage, and other standard practices
