Our client, a mutli-site, advanced technology organization is currently looking for a Director of Infrastructure to join their team in Richmond, VA. This is a permanent/full-time position with an excellent benefits package!

Position Description:
The Infrastructure Architect will translate strategic and related business requirements into practical technology applications, lead the system-wide IS technical infrastructure design, and collaborate with the local systems to ensure the system-wide and local systems infrastructures compliment each other.

Coordinate technical design for large-scale complex projects, monitor methods of systems selection for appropriate information technology, and promote activities to foster standardization within the enterprise. The scope includes:

• Identifying opportunities for improving the flow and cost of information.
• Leading the development and implementation of IS standards for infrastructure areas and evaluate financial and functional impact of IS infrastructure alternatives.
• Combine the requirements created by the Strategic Quality Plan (SQP), the organization’s strategic plan, with the expectations from customers and partners, and incorporate the appropriate technologies into the design of the information systems architecture.
• Leads the development of, and provides periodic updates of the information technology architecture strategies to keep them aligned with business and applications plans. 


Requirements:
• A Bachelors Degree
• Seven (7) years of IS experience of increasing responsibility in the area of technical information infrastructure planning within a large, geographically dispersed organization
- A minimum of three (3) years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience leading IS infrastructure planning in decentralized information systems environments.
• A track record setting and implementing information systems standards.
• Familiarity with such technologies or programs as:  IBM AIX architecture, server virtualization, desktop management, VPNs; LAN/WAN; SAN; Microsoft environments (including Active Directory and Exchange); mobile computing and wireless access;
• A track record planning for and managing the budget of large scale technology projects, and experience with contract negotiation and vendor relationship management.
