ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

We are seeking a smart and talented Electrical Engineer with a couple of years of experience out of school.  You must have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

You will be responsible for the specifications and design of electronic display sign products for the mass transit market.  This includes all phases of the development process: architectural block diagrams, circuit designs, printed-circuit board layout, manufacturing documentation, customer drawings, cost reduction, compliance testing, and other electronic/electrical engineering tasks.  Some travel is required. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.  Establish architecture and electrical design of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and sign products for transit vehicle and outdoor applications, based on marketing inputs.

2.  Establish agency compliance requirements and administer testing accordingly.

3.  Identify and be responsible for all development tools and test apparatus for selected architecture for debugging and testing.

4.  Develop manufacturing and customer-level drawings for both new and existing products.

5.  Define and implement product cost reductions on the current production of the product. 

6.  Design boards including schematic capture and PCB layout.

7.  Specify and design cables and harnesses. 

8.  Work with contract manufacturing companies to help set up production, assembly, and testing.

9.Support the Operations team to keep production flowing, and to assist the Field Service team with customer support and product genealogy information.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIESStrong understanding of 32-bit microprocessor-based designs, memory subsystems, IO, and peripheral controllers, and digital and power electronic circuits and systems.Working knowledge and experience in networking, wireless LAN, cellular technology, GPS, and serial communications.Good organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively.Abilities to multi-task and to prioritize accordingly.Ability to work well with others throughout the organization. Ability to effectively use electronic test tools to diagnose circuit problems, including: DVM, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer. Ability to understand and analyze other product development efforts as they pertain to ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) and sign products. 

 

MINIMUM RECRUITMENT STANDARDS 

1.  Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required; a Master's Degree is preferred. 

2.  A minimum of two (2) years of related work experience in electrical engineering is required.

3.  Experience with electrical/electronic CAD is required (OrCAD preferred). 

4.  Experience with mass transit or automotive electronics technology and environment is highly desirable.
