The student will gain first-hand experience on scientific investigation in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary and collaborative research environment. Specifically, we are looking for a highly innovative and self-motivated student who has strong skills on numerical simulation and programming. Intern will work with other engineers and physicists on developing multiphysics numerical models for printing sub-systems that might involve electrostatics, plasma physics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics. The student is expected to make contributions on the development of these printing sub-systems by proposing optimal geometrical configurations and operating conditions based on learning from these numerical models. During his internship the student will:-    Develop numerical models for multiphysics problems arising in printing subsystems-  Compare experimental data with numerical models to validate the simulation results-  Optimize configurations for these printing sub-systems by running parametric numerical simulations  -  Currently on a Graduate Program (Masters or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering or Physics-  Strong analytical skills-  Good understanding of electrostatics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics-  Good understanding of Plasma and numerical modeling of Plasma Physics a plus-  Experience on MATLAB programming-  Experience using FEA software needed, COMSOL (formerly FEMLAB) experience a plus-  Excellent Communication skills  © 2007 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
