High Availability Engineer

We are seeking a high availability engineer to assume a roll within the Systems Management group. The candidate should have previous high availability experience using Vision Solutions MIMIX HA for IBM i5/OS, Oracle Data Guard for Sun Solaris and SQL Server Log Shipping for Microsoft Windows. The successful candidate for the position of High Availability Engineer within the Systems Management group will be expected to partner with the platform specific teams and maintain the day-to-day operations of Bed Bath & Beyond?s high availability solutions on System i, Sun and Microsoft platforms. The candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of IBM System i High Availability Solutions inclusive of IASP and Cluster, Oracle Real Application Cluster on Sun Cluster and Microsoft SQL Server on Microsoft Cluster in addition to the EMC SRDF and MirrorView Disaster Recovery offerings. Job tasks include specific software installation and configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting, performance measurement and capacity planning, log reviews, and documentation. In addition to the tasks listed above the successful candidate will be directly involved in the evaluation of new technologies, upgrades of existing technologies, scenario based testing and high availability direction. The successful candidate will also assume a project lead role for various high availability based projects working with technical members of the Systems Management, Database and Network teams.Requirements: Experience with Vision Solutions MIMIX HA for IBM i5/OS. Experience with Oracle Data Guard for Sun Solaris Experience with SQL Server Log Shipping for Microsoft Windows. Working knowledge of Ethernet and Fibre Channel networksWorking knowledge of IBM System i High Availability Solutions inclusive of IASP and Cluster, Oracle Real Application Cluster on Sun Cluster,Microsoft SQL Server on Microsoft Cluster and EMC SRDF and MirrorView Disaster Recovery offerings.Ability to conceptualize alternative approaches to problem resolution. Ability to adjust, sort and distinguish priorities.Ability to take ownership of an assignment through to completion and work effectively with people from different departments within an organizationDetail oriented. Self starter requiring minimal supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills
