Responsible for maintaining all desktop and laptop computers including software updates, troubleshooting, system setups, and maintenance of backup systems.

CCH® Products

 

Prosystem fx (Pfx) Engagement®: This allows audit documentation to be performed more efficiently in a “paperless” electronic format increasing our need to ensure that the remote connections work reliably through the VPN. 

 

Pfx Tax®:  This software is used by our firm to prepare all corporate, individual, trust and other tax and informational returns (Forms 990 and 5500, etc.)

 

Pfx SCAN: Used in conjunction with Pfx Tax - scans client paper documents into PDF documents to facilitate preparation of tax returns. 

 

 

Microsoft Office (versions 2003 and XP)

 

This product is used in conjunction with Pfx Engagement and for general office needs.  In addition, our firm uses Adobe Acrobat Standard (versions 6.0 through 8.0) in conjunction with our Pfx Engagement product to create PDF documents which are incorporated into our firm's workpapers.

 

 

Mission Critical Hardware

 

 

The firm’s current Lan configuration utilizes Windows 2003 Small Business Server (including Exchange 2003) and Windows 2003 Server with a separate

 

 

Windows 2000 Server acting as a terminal server for remote connection.  Connectivity is via VPN connection to a Cisco 515E PIX router.

 

The firm has two Linux boxes running: One hosts our Intranet site and one hosts our Internet site.  Desktops/laptops are used throughout the office with Windows XP and Windows 2000. 

 

The firm also uses one LT01 and one LT02 tape backup device and Symantec Backup Exec. for Windows Server (version 11d) to backup the firm’s critical applications and data.

Microsoft Outlook is the firm's primary email interface and integrates with our Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server.

 

 

In Conclusion

 

The individual hired will be responsible for keeping the servers up-to-date, setting up new and maintaining existing laptops/desktops, documenting and maintaining software licensing, documenting hardware and user assignments, coordinating VPN connectivity at our clients, evaluating system needs with the managing partner, and implementing server revisions and/or upgrades. 

 

Flexible Hours: Full-time

 

Pay: Commensurate with ability/experience.

 

Firm Size: A team of 40 individuals.
