IT Business Analyst - Project Specialist

This IT Business Analyst will serve as an Liaison between assigned functional business and IT department, assisting with new and existing projects and applications. Develops project scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of business systems and industry standards.  Act as trainer for computer users and internal IT staff in the areas of user skills maintenance, developing training documentation, tips and techniques and will assist with application troubleshooting. Responsible for internal Sarbanes-Oxley compliance testing and 302 sub-certification. Project management experience and good organization skills is necessary for this position.

Serve as an IT project manager with application, and infrastructure projects formulating and defining project scope and objectives working with the ITS staff and business contacts.

Work with internal and external clients and technical staff, analyzing business associates needs and requirements to provide a medium for continuous improvement related to system usage, communication, applications, and end user training. Focus on tasks and project delivery so that improvements are measurable and business expectations are met.

Responds to basic questions from the user community regarding business system issues and assist with troubleshooting and report development and planning. Key in developing work site IT improvement and training plans.

Maintains client relationships, develop and maintain an understanding and up-to-date awareness of business functionality, business systems, industry requirements and reporting solutions.

Assists business associates and internal ITS staff in the areas of user skills development/maintenance, training, documentation.

Provide input for internal reporting, SOX testing and certification process, Quality assurance and planning process.

Work with external business partners to provide project guidance and governance to assure that business expectations are met and project closure is complete.

Require IT Skills:Strong quantitative, interpretive, analytical and problem solving skills. Good verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate formally and informally with a diverse client base and the ability to develop and deliver presentation. Strong interpersonal skills (e.g., tact/diplomacy, listening, facilitation, 'customer service' orientation). Excellent planning, time management and organization skills. Ability to interview business/functional users and translate business needs into technical plans. Ability to interview technical staff and translate technical information into user-focused training materials.

Required Knowledge:Knowledge of the functional area (financial, customer care) and/or functional business process for the assigned development support group. Knowledge of the assigned application/functional area (e.g., Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Billing, Collections). Knowledge of company policies, standard business practices and operating procedures.
Understanding of appropriate system environment/platform and development tool, dependent on business solution implemented (e.g., Structured programming, relational DB, or object-oriented language). Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and productivity tools  (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, project planning) Lotus Notes/Domino or MS Outlook/Exchange). Understanding of varied technology solutions. Understand the systems development life cycle (SDLC).


Education: Bachelor’s Degree in functional/business area supported or in related information technology field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Sciences, Information Systems), BS Operations Management with IS, DSS or IT related concentration


Experience: Five to Seven years experience in ITS support of assigned system.  Prior project management experience in defining and developing project plans and scope for business solutions working with diverse teams.
