IT Generalist

About the Opportunity

We are looking for an IT GENERALIST to help us achieve our vision to be the leader in the catalytic converter business through profitable innovative solutions that enhance our customers' lives.

 The main component of the job is a helpdesk/support function (80 %), with a small amount of time as a junior programmer (20 %).  The person reports directly to the Manager of Information Technology.

 

HELPDESK AND SUPPORT

 

Job Description

 

Provide support to end users on a variety of issues.

 

Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals.

 

Install laptop/desktop equipment and accessories

 

Identify, research, and resolve technical problems.

 

Respond to telephone calls, email and personnel requests for technical support.

 

Document, track and monitor the problem to ensure a timely resolution.

 

Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Work under immediate supervision of the IT Manager.

 

Skills required

 

Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within Windows XP, Vista and MS Office. 

Ability to configure and install new hardware

 A+ certification is a plus.

 

JUNIOR DEVELOPER

 

Job Description

 

The Junior Programmer should be able to:

 

test and debug code timeously, identify potential problems, and patch or revise code to eliminate problems encountered in production,

translate oral or written instructions regarding requested application design changes into working code,

 

Skills and Experience required for this position:

 

In order to be considered, the candidate should possess experience in the following:

 System / Net Experience

 MS Server 2003, Windows XP

TCP/IP

MS Office Suite

Candidate must have relative knowledge writing in ColdFusion / HTML, understanding of relational databases and ability to create stored procedures along with the following requirements. 

  

Languages/Software

 

-          Programming in ColdFusion

-          HTML, JAVA Script

-          Familiarity with JAVA, Perl, PHP, XML

-          DHTML

 

Additional programming languages such as JAVA, VB.net, PHP, XML, etc. are a plus.

 

Required Technical Skills

  DATABASES:

Access

SQL Server 2005 GRAPHICS SOFTWARE:

Photoshop MULTIMEDIA:

Flash Knowledge of multiple web browsers including Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera

 

Other Required Skills

  Professional demeanor and excellent communication skills Ability to handle multiple projects Ability to work independently. Must be self-directed

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor degree / Working on bachelor degree/3 - 4 years in the IT field developing applications using VB and SQL Server.

Web design/interactive media and/or graphic design - corporate experience is acceptable
