IT Infrastructure Technical Architect

DESCRIPTION:


The Infrastructure Architect will help in translating strategic and related business requirements into practical technology applications, lead IT technical infrastructure design and collaborate with other teams to ensure that the right solutions are implemented to support business initiatives.  The role is responsible for coordinating technical designs for small and large scale projects, participate in the selection of the appropriate technologies and foster standardization within the enterprise.  The Infrastructure Architect is also responsible for identifying opportunities for improving the way operations are performed, in tools needed to complete the work requirements and in processes improvements.

 

The Infrastructure Architect will contribute to the maintenance of a reliable and well performing environment by helping to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement enterprise architectural solutions.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

 Minimum of B.S. degree computer science or related degree or relevant experienceMinimum 5 years experience in IT Infrastructure occupying numerous roles. Excellent knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as Citrix, AD, Enterprise Directory, LDAP, Desktop Management, Microsoft technologies, virtualization, databases and web technologiesExcellent knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and WINS required Experienced with software packaging technologies such as MSI, SMS InstallerAdvanced knowledge of imaging and deployment technologies; Altiris, sysprep, etc.Proven ability to multi-task and effectively balance priorities.A proven track record of delivering work to deadlines.Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Combine the requirements of the IT strategic plan with the expectations from the users (clients) and incorporate the appropriate technologies into the design of the Infrastructure.

· Analyze business requirements and work with project teams to determine the elements of the infrastructure required to provide a solution to the project requirements.

· Research potential impact of introducing new infrastructure technology in the environment and work with the various infrastructure teams to reach a decision on the technology choices.

· Lead the development and implementation of IT standards for infrastructure areas and evaluate the functional and financial impact of IT infrastructure alternatives.

· Collaborate with Application development division to ensure that each infrastructure design has been fully considered for both application and infrastructure implications.

· Participate in build out and documentation of new technologies by either performing actual work or working closely with IT Infrastructure stakeholders.

· Prove out emerging technologies in given technology area by developing, running and documenting proof of concepts.  These proofs of concepts should then feed into new standards if technology is adopted.  Work with the various teams on defining the proof of concept requirements, deliverables and execution.

· Establish relationships between Infrastructure group and other groups thereby enabling flow of information.

· Advancing operational excellence by fostering adoption of best practices, including managing through processes and systems.

· Operate as the bridge between the Infrastructure division and all other IT and non-IT divisions or groups.

· Work closely with cross functional groups to resolve technical issues that span different functional areas.

· Good understanding of service management such as ITIL and SLAs.
