Senior System Administrator

 

This position supports the internal deployments of network services at Livescribe. In this position, you will be responsible for all levels of support, which includes troubleshooting uncommon issues, service maintenance, capacity planning, and upgrades for both Mac OS X Server and Windows platforms. You will also be responsible for taking the lead role in architecting new solutions.

 

Duties:Administer and maintain all applications systems related to our client's online services. Instruction and documentation for front-line support Report status of enterprise efficiency weekly Service monitoring and capacity planning Install and maintain server operating systems, software applications, and upgrades and ensure appropriate security measures to protect information assets Define and implement improvements to lower costs and improve efficiencies Install, support, and maintain the corporate servers Design migration plans, oversee and supervise execution Conduct systematic performance tuning Design and develop extensive scripting and other automation tasks Participate with the development, documentation and implementation of metrics tracking and reporting Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity plans. Ensure system and database disaster recovery procedures are in place and ready for execution as required Develop and assist in implementing/maintaining backup strategy for all information assets. Writing the company tools as needed (e.g. task automation, data migration, custom monitoring) 24 x 7 on call status to handle internal support issues Staying up to date on current directions of relevant technologies.

 

Requirements:Strong background in system administration. At least 5 years of sys admin experience supporting production servers in an enterprise setting. Strong grasp of generic troubleshooting methodology, load balancing technique, DNS Strong experience writing, documentation and maintaining custom scripts. Strong understanding of networking: HTTP, HTTPS, OSI layer and higher. Familiarity with LDAP in general Firewall configuration and online security experience. Comfortable working solo or with a small team. Experience in large scale web application deployment and maintenance Mac OS X Server, XRaid, XSan experience Experience with network security issues and solutions Related computer science/engineering degree. Asterisk PBX Telephony solution experience a plus Java development a plus
