It all starts here, with you.This title includes individuals who develop application architectures or who design data architectures. An incumbent will typically focus on one or the other, but could be proficient in both. Incumbents will have accountability and responsibility for the architecture of major applications and systems and ensuring that this architecture is in compliance with the approved standards; participate in business process design or improvement efforts; develop and maintain effective working relationships with both customer management and IT personnel, design effective IT solutions for business problems or strategies; and collaborate with other application and data teams to optimize the flow of work and data across interconnected business processes. Define new data elements/structures or changes to applications as needed to support major enhancements or new business initiatives. Guide and advise less experienced members of group. Have full accountability for the technical quality and viability of a major application area or category of data supporting critical business operations. For incumbents who are focused on applications, this role is responsible for the design and technical quality of a major application or family of applications that support one or more critical business processes or functions at Dominion. The incumbent will develop and maintain a comprehensive, unified application design that meets all aspects of the known or anticipated business requirements. Specifies the design of the business logic, interfaces, data, and presentation components of the application(s). Maps the application components to the appropriate hardware, software, and network infrastructures, based on collaboration with infrastructure architects. Specifies the methods and tools to be used for development and enhancement of the application(s), consistent with application requirements and established I.T. standards. Conducts design and code reviews to ensure technical quality, alignment with the BU/enterprise architecture, and adherence to established standards and guidelines. Diagnoses major operational problems and recommends architecture-level changes to meet availability, reliability, or performance objectives.For incumbents who are focused on data, this role is responsible for the definition, design, and integrity of the data supporting a major business function at Dominion. The incumbent will define data element names and aliases, data definitions, and standard data values that accurately describe the actual entities, attributes, and relationships in a major subject area (e.g., customer). Specifies the system of record for each data element and utilizes the system of record wherever feasible in fulfilling data needs. Supports the use of business intelligence methods and tools to gain additional value from data assets. Establishes and implements security and integrity controls that protect data assets and meet business and regulatory requirements. Conducts design reviews to ensure data quality, consistency with the established data architecture(s), and adherence to established standards and guidelines.performs assignments designed to develop work knowledge, skills and abilities requiring application of policies, procedures, techniques and other criteria in carrying out all aspects of the jobperforms routine work assignments but over time will demonstrate the ability to perform more difficult work assignmentsworks under established policies and procedures to meet set schedules and system or program requirements continues to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities to reach a higher level of proficiency and work complexityQualificationsThis level is staffed by individuals who have expert knowledge in a multi-platform operating environment, computing architectures and implementation of networked computing structures. Experience in Information Technology and business analysis is desired.
