We are seeking a talented Information Systems Security Officer who desires to be challenged in a well-respected and growing Colorado government agency.
The role of the Information Security Officer (ISO) is to provide vision and leadership for developing and supporting security initiatives. The ISO is to ensure the secure operation of in-house computer systems, servers, and network connections. This includes checking server and firewall logs, scrutinizing network traffic, establishing and updating virus scans. This individual will also analyze and resolve security breaches and vulnerability issues in a timely and accurate fashion. Additionally, the ISO will be responsible for auditing existing systems and user activity where required, while writing and administering security policies, activities, and standards.
· Maintains and monitors anti-virus software on servers and personal computers.
· Designs weekly reports on compliance with anti-virus software and other application/operating system software updates.
· Monitor server logs, firewall logs, intrusion detection logs, and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity. Interpret activity and make recommendations for resolution.
· Designs weekly reports on the most serious threats that have been posed to the Judicial Branch’s information systems.
· Works with the system administrator and Supervisor of Technical Services to administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights for all major application systems.
· Works with the network administrator to ensure that all VPN connections are current and legitimate.
· Manage and ensure the security of databases and data transferred both internally and externally.
· Design and implement disaster recovery/business continuity plan for iSeries systems, databases, windows servers, and software applications.
· Recommend, schedule, and perform security improvements and upgrades.
· Participates in the evaluation of the network administrator, system administrator, and supervisor of Technical Services regarding their attention to security matters.
· Design, implement, and report on security system and end user activity audits.
· Coordinates security activities with other State agencies and departments.
· Assess need for any security reconfigurations (minor or significant) and execute them if required.
· CompTIA Security+, CCSP or equivalent security certification preferred
Compensation: $4,543 - $6,090/Month

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Leads the Colorado Judicial Department’s hardware and software security and integrity efforts.
DISTINGUISHING FACTORS
This position is distinguished from other Integrated Information System staff due to the responsibility for information security related tasks. This position provides direction to all computer technicians statewide in the event of security threats declared by the State Court Administrator and CIO, or the CIO’s designate. Reports directly to the CIO.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Maintains and monitors anti-virus software on servers and personal computers.
Designs daily/weekly reports on compliance with anti-virus software and other application/operating system software updates.
Maintains and monitors intrusion detection software.
Designs daily/weekly reports on the most serious threats that have been posed to the Judicial Branch’s information systems.
Maintains and monitors systems that have been developed which centrally update local personal computers and servers with the most current software security updates.
Works with the system and network administrators to keep network and hardware user IDs current.
Works with the system administrator and Supervisor of Information System Specialists in keeping major application systems secure with passwords, and various security levels within the application.
Works with the network administrator to ensure that all VPN connections are current and legitimate.
Participates in the evaluation of the network administrator, system administrator, and supervisor of information system specialist regarding their attention to security matters.
Designs and conducts security audits.
Coordinates security activities with other State agencies and departments.
Attends meetings and training as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for one's own work product and may provide guidance, assistance, or mentorship to less knowledgeable or experienced coworkers. This includes scheduling of work, instructing in work methods, and reviewing work products. May provide input into the hiring and discipline/termination processes. Normally has input into performance evaluation process.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a four or two year university, community college or trade school with a focus on computer science and/or three to four years experience as a computer technician.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high precarious places. Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
