Day to Day Work Assigned at the local airport level to provide the Federal Security Director and subordinate staff with on-site IT support. Acts as a technical resource in resolving problems with Wintel PC platforms; implements upgrades, patches or fixes as required by the PMO.Acts as a technical resource for IT users; identifies users' IT needs; works with PC users to resolve problems and provide guidance on a variety of hardware components and software programs.Assists with data backup activities; restoration of PC images when required and the loading of a fresh PC Image on out of service systems. Key Responsibilities Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing company and multi-vendor systems which include hardware, software and networking products as well as operating systems. Installs and optimizes HW/SW/Networking product and configurations at customer sites. Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems. Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventative maintenance and configurations which may impact product performance. Takes responsibility for potential or desired follow-up services (Sales/Systems Engineering) or problem escalation. Maintains a thorough understanding of company service solutions. Functions as integration project leader when assigned. Verifies that proposed as well as existing client hardware/software configurations can function per requirements. Viewed as specialist in given field by the company. High degree of troubleshooting. Technical & Behavioral Skills Department of Defense Secret Clearance is required. Must be secret clearable. A+ certification required. Specific Manufacturers certifications as required. ie EMC, Dell, Cisco, Microsoft, COMPTIA certifications, and NETWORKPLUS. For legacy products must have current product training. Knowledge of client specific internal procedures and service delivery requirements. Advanced degree of knowledge of hardware and software including Unisys/Microsoft/Network operating systems. Advanced troubleshooting capabilities on software and hardware problems including DTS, Legacy systems, storage systems and interconnectivity problems. Ability to test and certify mainframes and/or servers with associated peripherals. Mechanical capability and an understanding of ESD procedures. Electronics training equivalent to at least 4 years of technical institutes, polytechnic and/or military technical school/universities and/or applicable related technical experience. Previous field service or other relevant technical work experience required. Technical & Behavioral Skills Knowledge and Experience: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Operating System:Installation, administration, local and network printer setup, disk devices, hardware devices and drivers, I/O devices, optimizing system performance, network protocols and services, security and user accounts.Computer and Network hardware:Wintel desktop and laptop platforms, network adapters, printers, scanners and other approved peripherals. Application Software:COTS applications to include the Microsoft Office Professional suite, Adobe Acrobat family, VPN clients, Outlook.LANS and WANS:Network protocols, structured cabling, routers, switches, Ethernet, TCP/IP applications (i.e. FTP, DNS), TCP/IP routing and subnets, SNMP, Frame Relay, dial up protocols and services. Technical Procedures:Installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting and repairing applicable software, hardware and peripherals.Technical Practices: Documentation of hardware and software related to the establishment and maintenance of IT assets, LANs and WANsSkilled in: Project Management Using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures.Instructing users on new or upgraded computer applications, hardware and software.Organizing work, setting priorities and meeting critical time deadlines.
