Manager IT Infrastructure

Well known and stable Financial Institution in downtown D.C. has asked us to identify candidates for a new position of Manager IT Infrastucture.  This is a permanent fulltime positon, not a contract.


The responsibility of this position is to manage the IT Department’s global network infrastructure components by implementing and deploying standard infrastructure solutions, managing Client’s global information technology infrastructure and systems and by providing end resolution to all escalated issues from the Operations tier.

 

Description:

 

People Management/Team development

•  Supervise staff in managing day-to-day tasks and projects 

•  Provide goal setting and mentoring of direct support engineer

•  Work to develop strong ties between Business Systems and global operation support teams

 

Infrastructure and Security Research

•  Deployment and support of new infrastructure standards (ex. switches, FW, routers)

•  Perform ongoing technology evaluation and business applicability assessment

•  Evaluate and implement tiered defensive posturing systems and policies to defend against malware threats

•  Report up benefits and ROI for recommended standards for adoption

 

Operations Support

•  Provide end resolution of all escalated cases from Operations support teams

•  Proxy issues requiring escalation to manufacture intervention for final resolution

 

Infrastructure Standards governance

•  Oversee evolution and documentation of existing infrastructure, LAN/WAN network and security and audit standards

•  Perform management of global network design and as-built documentation upkeep

 

Vendor Management

•  Work to define relationships with technology manufacturers or consulting VAR’s to assist with deploying new or migrating existing technologies

•  Leverage outside consultants and resellers to supplement technology holes in our bench or  to supplement internal staff engineering activities

 

Test Lab Operations

•  Support ongoing test lab operations and ongoing evolution to meet the needs of the department

 

 

 

•  Manage virtualization framework and growth over time

•  Support the evolution of VMWare virtualization tools and associated infrastructure

 

SLA Management

•  Provide regular infrastructure service uptime and availability reporting to management on periodic basis

•  Work to identify weaknesses in delivered engineered solutions where ongoing improvements in technology engineering can help to deliver refinements.

 

Project Management

 

•  Participate in department project management methodology as part of global technology implementation initiatives

 

Responsible for the budget related to new technology initiatives for worldwide engineering efforts

 

Provide support as needed to operations tier for resolution of all escalated support issues

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

•  5-8 years experience in the role of managing engineering staff in the support of infrastructure and security technologies

•  2-3 project management experience in support of infrastructure initiatives

•  5 years of hands on experience supporting Cisco routing/switching and HP server technologies in a Microsoft LAN/WAN environment

 

•  BA or BS degree in Information Systems or equivalent.

•  MCSE 2003 certification or equivalent

•  CCNP 2000 certification or equivalent time in role

 

•  Experience with AD design and architecture concepts

•  Experience with complex TCP/IP networks and associated IP numbering and namespace services

•  Experience with Cisco switch and routing infrastructure and IOS command set

•  Familiarity with VoIP concepts and the supporting QOS framework

•  Experience with advanced network routing typologies and availability

•  Experience with carrier based WAN networks and provisioning services

•  Experience with managing security best practices in global configuration
