Microsoft System Engineer

We are one of the world's top 5 law firms with offices in several offices all over the world. We are one of the 3 or 4 law firms in New York City to actually grow in 2007, & the growth continues, especially in our IT Operations division. We have an immediate need for a full time permanent Senior Systems Engineer to work in our R & D department. This is a full time permanent position which offers a great base salary, excellent benefits, 3-4 weeks paid vacation, & normal 40 hour work weeks with minimal overtime. There is a huge amount of growth potential in this role & it is vey visible throughout the firm. NO PREVIOUS LAW FIRM EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! 


We are looking for a Systems Engineer who has a solid amount of Windows experience (7+ Years), some Exchange experience, & also some Cisco experience. The ideal candidate will also have experience with some VMware. The breakdown for this position is about 70% Windows Engineering & 30% Networking (Cisco etc) The specs are below. Operations Engineers are engaged in various technology projects from the point of research and design to implementation & training. The goal of the group is to provide technical expertise towards the success of the project.

The ideal candidate will be the primary engineer for the research & design of technology related projects. Should have experience in Microsoft related technologies such as Windows 2000/2003, Exchange 2000/2003, & SQL 2000/2003. Experience with the design & implementation of SQL, Exchange & File Services in a Microsoft Clustered environment. Candidate should have been involved in the research & design of a virtual infrastructure utilizing VMware technologies. Experience with Cisco switching & routing technologies. Candidate should have written technical proposals for business review & documentation for training.

The position will consist of 90% project work & 10% support. Candidate should possess a strong ability to work individually on smaller projects or as part of a project group on larger initiatives. Must have excellent written & oral communication skills. Must be willing to learn & adapt to technologies outside of current skill set.

Required Skills:

7+ Years Experience in Microsoft Windows
Broad Experience in Microsoft Solutions
Design & Implementation of Windows 2003 Domain
Design & Implementation of migration from Windows 2000 to 2003
Experience in monitoring of Microsoft Networks
2-4 Years Experience in VMware technologies
2-4 Years Experience in Cisco Technologies
Must Have Worked in Environment of 1000+ Users
MCSE 2000 or 2003 required
Excellent Written & Oral Communication Skills
Ability to work with both Technical & Non Technical Staff
Skilled in MS Office including Visio
Desire & Ability to learn new technologies
4 Year College Degree
