Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a Network Engineer to participate as a member of the Information Technology team in areas such as installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computer networks, telecommunications, system security and associated duties by performing the following tasks: 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

General LAN/WAN responsibilitiesBecome familiar with and analyze existing network design and implementation.Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common network problems.Upgrade network hardware and software components as required.Respond to the needs and questions of users with respect to general technical support, access, resources, and security.Administer and monitor computer programs that control user access to the network and systems.Establish access security for networks being installed.

EngineeringCoordinates installation of network operating system software and tests, maintains and modifies configurations.Work with the development and systems integration group to ensure all proprietary and third party applications properly integrate with the firm’s network structure.Reviews network capabilities to determine if requested changes to the network infrastructure are possible.Prepares charts and diagrams to document network configuration.Documents all steps taken to modify the system and all procedures required to implement changes to network hardware and software.Review capacity reports, problem records and performance monitors to evaluate performance of network.

Data RecoveryDevelop, coordinate, implement and test plans for off-site recovery of ongoing activities in case of a disaster or emergency (BRP).Test back-up (redundant) connectivity, where applicable, on a regular basis.Document test results, procedures and maintain an updated emergency recovery procedure.

 

Experience and Skills:2-5 years experience with Cisco IOS configurations.Hands on configuration-Cisco routers and switches including OSPF protocol.A working knowledge of TCP,UDP, and multicast network protocols.An understanding of hardware vendor product offerings. Good problem definition and problem resolution skillsGood people skills related to service and responsivenessCollege degree with an emphasis in information systems, or related field.Ability to be self-directed and dependableGood written and verbal communication skillsTeachable attitude
