Network/Server Engineer

Network/Server Engineer We are looking for a full-time contract Network/Server Engineer.  This opportunity will be a Contract to Direct Hire by the end of May.  You will be responsible for building Windows 2003 Servers/Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 200x, SMS, File and Print Servers as well as SQL Servers.  This position will provide support to all distributed computing technologies deployed at the Corporate Headquarters and Data Center, as well as field locations, Client and 3rd Party sites.  You will ensure all technologies that are deployed and supported, comply with IT standards and policies.  You will be responsible for the integrity and maintenance of a full range of computer systems including but not limited to the network infrastructure, servers, LAN, desktops/laptops, and the telecommunication system. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Administer, maintain and repair all infrastructure solutions including servers (application, database, Active Directory, file & print, web, etc.), Local Area Network (LAN), PBX / VoIP systems, RF equipment (scanners, access points, antennas), and video conferencing hardware. Provide second level support of desktops, laptops, printers MFP devices, blackberries, etc. Interface with the Applications Development to ensure the appropriate level of server and network performance to support the various business functions. Do the Back-ups and maintenance of the server operations, ensuring that data is recoverable in the event of any failures. Administers server operations, monitors, diagnoses problems, and works with suppliers and corporate specialists to resolve them. Support and maintain desktops including the diagnosis of hardware or software failure. Maintain hardware and software in compliance with “corporate standards”. Acts as the liaison with vendors to repair or replace hardware. Performs help-desk function internal and remote users. Participate in projects that require IS input or have an impact on IS systems and processes. Recommends new equipment for special projects according to “corporate standards”. Reviews, selects and recommends equipment and software that is not covered by “corporate standards” or is required locally. Responsible for testing, roll-out and support of all technologies. Provide technical assistance in the negotiation of supply/service contracts with vendors and supervises and supports local on-site suppliers. Protect systems from virus intrusions. Develops and implements local contingency plans for containing virus outbreaks. Serve as focal point for ordering of infrastructure hardware for corporate and remote sites Work with management at remote locations to ensure proper controls are maintained for the infrastructure deployed with their sites Prepare computers for new hires and provide personalized on site support, when necessary, in delivering the finished product Skills and Qualifications: 3-7 years IT infrastructure support related experience preferably in Windows 2003 Server environment - (experience with Novell to Windows migration helpful) Experience with building servers and networks in a multi-platform environment Customer service oriented experience Broad experience and technical knowledge in the use of Server and Desktop technologies Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with others to achieve results Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships with peers, clients, and management Solid written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills; Solid judgment and decision-making skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience a plus
