Network Specialist

Network Specialist III LAN / WAN Administrator for our client in Washington DC. Provide expertise in configuring, installing, upgrading and trouble shooting in a LAN/WAN environment or between multiple local area networks in WAN environment. Provide expertise regarding personal computer hardware and software, network hardware (file server, NIC, cabling), network operating systems (Win/Intel based server and CISCO). Should have experience in dealing with PC hardware and software manufacturers and dealers and possess the ability to plan and direct the growth and expansion of networks, both wide area and local and to train new users concerning LAN/WAN networks.   Primary role is to administer, maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure, remote access, and network/endpoint security. The successful candidate will ensure secure and reliable access to a variety of systems for both internal and remote users. Regular monitoring and reporting on network/system performance, availability, utilization, and security is essential. In addition, this position will interface with and support the enterprise team that supports the entire network services infrastructure. The duties in this role include installing and maintaining network & server hardware and software, interacting with vendor support teams, design and planning of new systems and providing support and mentoring to other members of the IT department.

- Working experience maintaining and supporting either Cisco networking products in an enterprise environment.   - Proven experience managing and configuring enterprise-wide LANs, WANs, VPNs, WLANs, etc.   - Exceptional technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills of all aspects of TCP/IP networks including the use of protocol analyzers and packet capturing utilities.   - Experience managing firewalls, switches and VPN appliances   - Extensive knowledge of Windows /Intel based server administration, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting.   - Active Government Security Clearance
