Networks System Engineer

Job Summary: This position reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager and provides computer network and systems administration support for the Impax IT network.  The role is part of the Infrastructure team that is based in Hayward, CA, and is responsible for equipment at all Impax locations in U.S. and abroad.

 Responsibilities:·  Manage and maintain all Network Devices within the Impax network including routers, switches, firewalls, telephony equipment and servers.  ·  Monitor and communicate alerts for critical business service outages to Impax business users.  ·  Troubleshoot and/or debug network related problems.  ·  Design, build administer and maintain web, application, email, database and utility servers using best practices in a MS Windows Active Directory environment.  ·  Research, test and apply service packs and hot fix updates to Windows systems.  ·  Configure and audit security access controls for all Windows systems, switches, routers and firewalls. Design, setup and maintain virtual servers.  ·  Manage requests on a ticketing system.  ·  Assist desktop support to troubleshoot user problems.  ·  Train IT staff on server engineering/administration.

 

Required Skills & Knowledge:BS degree in computer science, or equivalent experience.  (4 years)5+ years experience in the following areas: Cisco router, switch, firewall configurations in converged VLAN networks.5+ years experience in the following areas: Active Directory domain architecture and implementation; DHCP, WINS and DNS server administration; File and print server administration; Server Monitoring & Alerting; Security configuration and auditing for Windows.5+ years MS Windows experience, Server 2003, and XP.5+ years MS Exchange/email systems experience.3+ years telephony / PBX configuration experience (Intertel systems a plus) Good troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in a variety of hardware platforms.Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to work effectively with staffAbility to work independently and in a team environmentMust be able to work after hours/weekends as needed for supportAbility to prioritize tasks. Good organizational skillsMCSE preferredRequired CCNA, CCNP or other professional level Cisco certifications preferred
