Paralegal
Provide contract support services for the world’s largest provider of disc drives and storage solutions. This position will help support the global contract needs of Seagate’s sales, marketing, consumer solutions, and customer service business units. Specific job responsibilities include the following: Oversee, coordinate, prepare, negotiate, and administer support for standard contracts, amendments and proposals. Initiate direct communication with sales, finance, commodity managers, customers, and vendors to support the contracting process. Negotiate intellectual property, insurance, payment, electronic security, and other standard terms with vendors as part of the overall contract process. Advise stakeholders regarding legal department procedures, compliance with internal controls, and the vendor engagement process. Assist in the implementation of corporate-wide contracting policies and provide guidance regarding procurement and internal control requirements. Participate in the transition to a new contract management system and database. Create and maintain contract database records for contracts and legal memoranda. Analyze existing contracts to monitor performance and ensure compliance with the contract terms, contract policies, and contractual commitments (including milestones) are met. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies. Inform managers and contracting team of contract negotiations to avoid delays in the contracting process. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a paralegal or contracts administrator (10 years preferred) with significant experience supporting procurement functions for a large company or client. Paralegal certification is preferred. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required for this position. Candidates must be skilled at using Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and Excel. Candidates must be adept at working with computers and contract management database systems. Demonstrated knowledge of contract terms and conditions. Must possess understanding of bid and contracting processes, knowledge of legal terminology, and negotiating skills on an international basis. Strong organizational and people skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively. Must be client-focused.
