Point of Sale Specialist -- Detroit

 

 

Safety Net is seeking a motivated individual to join our Software Solutions Group as a permanent, full-time Point of Sale Specialist reporting to an office in the Ferndale area.  This person will be responsible for planning, implementing and supporting restaurant point of sale, retail point of sale, and basic networking for clients. 

 

Specifically, this person will be conduct project meetings with the client, survey the store’s operations, work closely with the sales Account Manager to gather requirements, stage and configure POS machines and peripherals, physically install equipment, and train clients on its use.  Between project work, the POS Specialist provides support to existing clients statewide via phone, e-mail, remote access software tools, and on-site as needed in Southeast Michigan.

Required qualifications:Associates degree or higher with minimum GPA of 3.0.Restaurant or retail work experience using a POS systemStrong knowledge of PCs/”computer savvy”CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent experienceProficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelAbility to communicate technical information to a non-technical businesspersonDemonstrable written communication skillsAvailability and willingness to be on call outside business hours for client support, approximately 10 days/monthPhysical abilities to lift PCs and equipment of up to 50 poundsValid drivers license



The ideal candidate would have one or more of these qualifications:Experience in the implementation and support of restaurant and/or retail point of sale systemsExperience in Microsoft Retail Management System implementation and integration with accounting/ERP softwareExperience providing remote IT supportBasic knowledge of SQL with ability to do queries and basic scriptingExperience using project management softwareBasic knowledge of accounting
