Principal Product Safety Compliance Engineer

PRINCIPAL PRODUCT SAFETY COMPLIANCE ENGINEER

 

Working at Teradyne's corporate headquarters you will support project work primarily for our Semiconductor Test and Automated Test Divisions. In this highly visible role you will be responsible for the following duties and activities:

· Requires integrating with engineering teams at all Teradyne sites.  Will develop relationships with technical leads and engineering managers across multiple sites and platforms. (International travel may be occasionally required.)

· Must conduct product safety analysis from circuit level schematics to system level Test Equipment. Will draw conclusions from analysis and make formal component to sub-assembly level safety recommendations to engineering teams.

·   Will interface with certification suppliers, competent bodies, & test labs as needed and drive all product safety testing requirements. Must insure that compliance to all appropriate safety regulations and standards are met.

· Will also assist other “Compliance Engineer’s” to drive overall product safety accountability within and across engineering teams using RPD product design methodology. Represent Teradyne at SEMI standards and regulation forums.

· Must ensure continuing compliance on all projects assigned by maintaining Constructional Data Forms, (CDF) and performing/contracting in-house safety testing to support CDF revisions.

· Requires the ability to support and maintain Teradyne Product EMC Certification currency by performing radiated emissions testing and revising / maintaining Technical Construction Files (TCF) a plus.

Skills and Education required:The ideal candidate will have a BSEE, BSCS or equivalent – MSEE+ preferred with at least 8+ years experience working with engineers on designing for Product Safety compliance.Must be results oriented with the proven ability to work with all engineering disciplines including marketing/sales to drive Product Safety needs to closure.Must also be results oriented and psossess the proven ability to work with all engineering disciplines including marketing/sales to drive Product Safety needs to closure.Requires a basic understanding of ESD and EMC containment in RF, Digital, or Analog circuitry.Requires strong communication ability (written, verbal, & presentation), team skills, and a proven history driving & closing actionsMust have strong knowledge of Domestic and International Standards/Regulations such as SEMI (S2),European Standards (EN61010, EN61326), and RoHS/WEEE. Working knowledge of ATE (or highly integrated electrical equipment).Must also possess the ability to summarize actions and learning’s into an output for updating recommended practices related to Product Safety compliance.Requires a fundamental understanding of the role of an engineering support group, and the accountability to drive issues and resolve problems. Must have strong basic computer and lab equipment skills to allow for generation and maintenance of safety testing procedures and safety reports. WEB page/site development a plus but not required.Requires hands-on ability to perform Product Safety testing using HyPot, ground continuity, leakage current and thermocouple.Knowledge of Oracle, Cadence SpecctraQuest SI, Cadence Allegro, and Gerber file reader software knowledge a plus.Flomerics and FLOEMC experience would be an additional plus.
