Intermec serves thousands of companies worldwide, including 75 percent of Fortune 500 companies and 60 percent of the Fortune 100.Purpose of the Job: A Principal Product Strategist is Intermec’s most senior individual contributor marketing management position. The main responsibility is to provide effective Product Marketing leadership and management of Intermec’s RFID products. Defines, implements, and manages assigned Intermec product lines. Responsibilities include the establishment of strategic product planning; new product definition of product and introduction; the development of product life cycle management strategies; product pricing; forecasting and product training; promotion and advertising. Also drafts product positioning statements and manages product launch activities.Principal Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks:1. Responsible for market positioning of specified products to meet business unit market share, revenue and gross margin targets.2. Management of specific RFID product lines which may include fixed readers, portals, RFID modules, antennas and associated software components.3. Formulates new product development strategies and requirements for required next generation products to meet business growth objectives by working closely with customers, channel partners and Intermec field sales and sales engineering teams.4. Directs the development of product life cycle management strategies for existing product lines ensuring optimal product line growth, price-performance positioning and End-of-Life program development.5. Responsible for the content, quality, and validity of product requirements documents, product business plans and other product business issues.6. Develops and implements product promotion and advertising programs in support of business objectives.7. Responsible for developing presentations and collateral material for use by the Intermec sales force.8. Acts as the principal point of information for Intermec sales channels.9. Responsible for analysis of Intermec’s competitors in the RFID marketplace. Uses the results of this analysis to provide competitive information and responses to Intermec sales channels and in the development of product strategies, priorities, advertising and promotions. 10. Responsible for the content, form, and effectiveness of all product training programs.11. Manages product catalogs and product migration programs.12. Responsible for product pricing strategies.Education: Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree in Business Management, Marketing, or Engineering with an MBA preferred. Equivalent job related experience may be substituted for educational degrees.Experience: 5-10 years experience in two or more fields of Marketing, Engineering, General Management, Product Sales, and/or Program Management. Knowledge of RFID technology and marketplace are absolutely essential with experience in a sales, system consultant or marketing capacity a plus.Special Skills: Effective communication skills including both oral and written communications and the ability to effectively present and promote Intermec’s RFID products are required. Effective public speaking and presentation skills coupled with the ability to motivate the value proposition of Intermec’s RFID products to audiences of varying levels of expertise is a must.
