The Principle Web Architect provides enterprise architecture direction and leadership in the web technology space and related business systems at Ingram Micro and their business clients. Will assess requirements and provide insight to the IT organization regarding technology trends and management needs and concerns, while at the same time educating, sensitizing, and managing the expectations of the business units with regard to the realities, challenges and fundamentals of eCommerce based IT. Informs, advises and consults with internal business units and external clients on information system technologies functionality, costs, benefits, and implementation requirements Provide effective technical consulting and solution adoption, development and proposal generation (both technology and business solutions). Deliver technology reviews of potential solutions and position them accordingly in the enterprise. Requirements:Competencies Exhibited: Strong technical knowledge and ability to express complex technical concepts in terms that are understandable to the business. Comprehensive knowledge of Ingram Micro Information Systems to the level of detail, enough to provide both internal/external consultations. This knowledge must also be sufficient to be able to effectively determine a synergistic technology solution to an overall business proposal. This solution will defined by required system use, integration points, and their incorporation in the desired business model. This position must be able to accurately estimate the cost for any IT related project costs as they relate to a defined technology business solution. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all management levels. Strong written communication skills. Strong analytical and conceptual skills; a demonstrated track record in new concept development for various projects and complex technical plans. Understanding of how technology affects an organization and ability to link it to redesigned business processes. Ability to be comfortable in a nonhierarchical, flat organization and, if required, operate under a dual reporting relationship; ability to thrive in a somewhat unstructured “hands-on” environment that demands a consultative approach and solutions that span multiple environments in a business area. Technology: Extensive experience building and architecting high traffic internet sites serving 5-25 million plus requests per day or similar high transaction volume distributed systems 5+ years experience development experience with Java concentrating on server-side development Extensive experience implementing complex system integrations utilizing messaging and HTTP Experience tuning server side applications and databases, i.e. distributed caches Experience architecting highly-available, failure resistant/tolerant internet scale systems Leadership Ability to think strategically. Ability to create and promote guiding development principles, and influence application developers in their ability to create technically sound solutions. Communication Clear written, verbal, presentation, and process facilitation skills. Accessibility - Ability to work with both business and technical representatives at all levels. Decision-Making Ability to make informed balanced decisions in a timely manner. Time Management Ability to manage many initiatives at the same time, and exercise judgment on the most appropriate areas of focus. A thorough understanding how technology decisions impact the Ingram Micro business as a whole. Desired Qualifications: 10 plus years experience in enterprise web architecture Experience in developing event-driven and service-oriented architectures (SOA) Experience with web services, specifically security and identity management Experience with various enterprise messaging technologies Experience with Enterprise Service Bus solutions Experience with Rich Internet Application using AJAX/AHAH Experience building/integrating with Web content management systems Experience in e-commerce. Experience with commercial supply chain, trading partner, warehouse, logistics management, marketing, and/or customer relationship management (CRM) software. Experience with and used technologies such as Oracle, DB2, SAP Portal, NetWeaver, JBoss, WebSphere to construct and build e-commerce solutions.
