Product Development Specialist - Hospital Services

WaveMark is a fast-growing solutions provider that uses RFID to provide a hands-free solution for optimizing inventory levels and product mix in hospital specialty areas as well as total supply chain visibility for medical device manufacturers.

 

Summary:

 

This position reports to the VP for Hospital Services and provides support to the entire Hospital Services department with a focus on product development for software and hardware.  This position also works directly with Engineering, Operations Support and Supplier Solutions to ensure integrated feature sets that work for all parties.  Customer support, data analysis, and some administrative support duties are also included in this position.

 

Duties

 

1.  Product Development - Software

The following describes the kind of work this position will be responsible for:

· Meet with customers and with Hospital Services staff to understand need for improvement in the web-based reports

· Describe the need for improvement and the proposed solution in writing (generally in Bugzilla) and keep track of bug reporting to ensure that the Engineering team understands the bug/request and executes it according to pre-set release schedules

· In conjunction with Engineering, publish schedules to the Hospital Services team so that all know when releases are happening and can communicate this information to the hospitals.

· Work with QA in Engineering to test the beta release before it goes into production.  Provide feedback to Engineering within established timeframes for any fixes to ensure a clean release.

· Write the Concept Document and Requirements Document for new features and/or work closely with Engineering to do so.  This document should include input from customers, Hospital Services and, where applicable, Supplier Solutions as well as Engineering and should follow established protocol for these Documents.

· Types of project include:

o  enhancements to existing reports

o  development of content for completely new reports for management reporting

o  a change in the way products are entered into the database

o  interface testing coordination with customers

o  handling eaches/boxes for ordering

o  adding product costs to the reports

o  adding patient information into WaveMark, and so on

o  usability enhancements

 

 

2.  Product Development – Hardware

· Meet with customers and with Hospital Services staff to understand need for improvement in hardware configuration

· Describe the request in writing in a way that Engineering can understand exactly what is required by the customer.  This may require several iterations.

· Keep the Hospital Services apprised of progress and timing of hardware changes

· Work with Engineering and Hospital Services to ensure that all hardware is tested in the field.

· Follow up on tests and quantify results (e.g. read rates, read accuracy, customer satisfaction with the new product).  Publish results to Hospital Services and Engineering to ensure that input is incorporated into next version of the hardware.

· Write the Concept Document and Requirements Document for new features and/or work closely with Engineering to do so.  This document should include input from customers, Hospital Services and, if applicable, Supplier Solutions as well as Engineering and should follow established protocol for these Documents.

 

 

3.  Data Analysis and Other Work with Business Analyst to provide support for data releases and testing data releases (e.g. New products, new UPNs, new product types, etc)Provide support to the Hospital Services team as needed.

 

Requirements

 

Experience:At least 2 years relevant experience either in direct software/hardware product development role or having some product development duties as an integral part of the position.  At least 1 year QA experience in software/hardware strongly preferredAt least 1 year in a medical setting strongly preferredAt least 1 year in supply chain strongly preferred

 

Education:Must have a Bachelors Degree.  Masters preferred.

 

Skills:Demonstrated ability to manage a project on time and on budgetDetail orientationExcellent communication skills to ensure everyone is on the same page during product development effortsExcellent writing skills are required.  Writing sample will be requested at time of application.Must be fluent in use of MS Word, Excel, MS Project, and PowerPoint Positive, can-do attitude

 

Travel:

Some travel to hospital sites will be required to ensure customer voice is heard (10%).
