Project Manager - 4-5 Month Contract
The Kemtah Group, Inc. is a National Information Technology Firm that specializes in IT Infrastructure Support. We are seeking a Project Manager for the San Francisco area for a 4-5 month engagement. Qualified candidate will have experience with design, develop and implement a disaster recovery solution. This position requires independent interaction with the client, so representatives must be professional and customer-service oriented.

SUMMARYQualified candidate must have strong organizational and leadership skills with successful experience managing long-term, complex projects. In addition, the Project Manager must be skilled in communicating and coordinating across departments, divisions and outside organizations to gain buy-in and support for the projects he/she manages. This person must be able to delegate and monitor work assignments among a wide variety of people and departments with dissimilar backgrounds and disciplines. The Project Manager must be willing to take on the responsibility for managing his/her projects to a successful conclusion with the promised functionality delivered on time and on budget.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Project Manager reports directly to the IT PMO Director, but also has reporting relationships to other IT Directors, Program Managers, Sponsors, Stakeholders, IT steering committees, and other governance groups.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Develops project work plans in accordance with PMBOK standards and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
· Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
· Manages day-to-day operational aspects and scope of the project.
· Reviews deliverables prepared by the team for accuracy before delivery.
· Diligently applies the project management methodology and enforces project standards established by the PMO.
· Prepares the project team for project reviews, gate reviews, and go/no go decisions.
· Develops, adheres to and enforces quality assurance procedures and processes required for each project.
· Exercise a proactive management style to foresee, identify, address and alert management to potential risks and issues that could threaten the overall success of the project before they become problems.
· Ensure complete and accurate documentation is maintained and delivered for all phases of the project.
· Assigns duties to project team members and examines work for accuracy, timeliness and meeting the desired objectives.
· Coordinates resources and activities to support project objectives.
· Communicates, both through oral and written means, the project goals to staff as well as the timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and ultimate disposition of all project information.
· Reports/informs management of project status, risks and deviation from goals.
· Proactively directs and assists project team in conflict resolution to seek and obtain a permanent solution either through fact-finding and compromise techniques or when necessary by authoritative decision making.
· Guides and performs strategic analysis for projects with the help of such tools as the Project Ranking tool.
· Initiates and maintains strong working relationships with customers, team members and counterparts on other projects.
· Through both verbal and written media, serves as official project representative to explain and communicate standards, methods and concepts to members of the organization.
· Estimate the likelihood of a risk occurring, develop strategies to reduce the probability of one occurring and lessen the impact when one does occur.
· Maintain a Risk and Issues log with mitigation plans, assign actions items and resolution due dates.
· Develop, monitor and report on the project budget.
· Report on the health of the project through the use of metric tracking for schedule, cost, and resource allocation against planned versus actual expenditures.
· Monitor and track change requests to prevent increased scope beyond that which is reasonable to absorb within the established budget and schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
· 6+ years experience with the successful implementation of software application systems and an in-
· depth knowledge of the technology required to support these implementations.
· Strong prioritization and organizational skills that span not only the obligations related to project participants but the entire responsibility within the PMO as well, to include project documentation, requirements information, memos, reports, personnel records, vendor quotes, metrics and contracts.
· Demonstrated experience in Information Technology operations.
· Highly organized and thorough, with an ability to facilitate communication and scheduling among various levels of staff.
· Strong communication, writing and inter-personal abilities, including skills such as attitude, diplomacy and persuasiveness, analytical ability, strong judgment and managerial skills.
· Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
· Ability to work effectively with the full range of our clients from entry level to senior executives, other data processing management personnel, technical staff and vendors.
· PMI Certification desired REQUIRED
Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite, Remedy Visio and ability to work beyond normal 8-5 work schedule when necessary.
