Purchasing/Buyer Agent

Summary:

The Purchasing/Buyer Agent is required to drive purchasing and materials related activities for DR Systems. In addition, this position will require someone well organized and versed in taking a proactive approach to maintain efficient inventory levels in support of DR’s customer purchase orders. Other functions required of this position are to; manage suppliers, track material delivery dates, track material purchase price variances, perform Incoming Receiving activities, Service RMA purchasing needs, support accounting on material cost related items, support Quality Systems Regulations (QSR) requirements, and participate in non-conforming material related meetings.

 

Responsibilities: Coordinate/maintain the purchasing area and activities.Report on component discontinuation or End-Of-Life (EOL) status when informed by suppliers.Responsible for creating and completing all project/production material purchase orders. Use of COGS excel templates and Peachtree will help facilitate this taskMaintain key supplier (vendor) relationships along with the Supplier selection, evaluation and management process.Shall be responsible for continuous improvements in purchasing as well as inventory and warehouse management processes. Daily task as a material buyer will require interfacing and supporting the needs of various departments such as Manufacturing, Engineering, Development, and Customer Service.Support Production and Integration Technicians to meet critical deadlines, requires a proactive attitude.DR’s primary point of contact to create and place purchase orders. Monitor and fill material shortages as necessary. Responsible for maintaining appropriate material inventory levels.As necessary follow-up with suppliers to coordinate on-time deliverables. Keep Production Supervisor informed on any material related issues.Work within a cross-functional mode such as back-up to the shipping and receiving department. Especially during busy times or if resources are away on PTO.Participate in a Material Review Board (MRB) meeting and sign-off on materials disposition activities.From a Purchasing perspective, support and process Service heat tickets for new material orders.Responsible for monthly inventory counts and costing. Maintain and report inventory status to the DR accounting department. Participate in performing annual physical inventory counts.Maintain an updated “Approved Supplier List” (ASL). As necessary, work with Configuration Management on change orders that have an impact to the purchasing and/or materials flow processes.Become familiar and experienced with DR product types and product BOM’s. This will assist in your day-to-day activities.Process and follow the flow to purchasing and maintaining 3rd party s/w licensing needs.Participate in production kickoff and status meetings and report any material related issues.



 

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess as many of the following qualifications as possible:

 

· Very organized, experience in the development and implementation of purchasing and materials control processes. Possess problem solving skills for process development and improvement.

·  Working knowledge of coordinating and maintaining a systematic approach to JIT inventory control.

· Have the ability to multi-task, communicate well with other organizations within the company, and self-navigate through assignments and tasks in a fast pace working environment.

· Experience working in a controlled materials inventory environment. Maintaining and organizing a materials stockroom area. Perform Incoming and Receiving inspection activities.

· Should be capable of hands on approach with a “does what it takes” type attitude.

·Familiar with the Peachtree accounting and purchasing database is a plus.

·  Experience with the decision making process of non-conforming materials the review board sign-off meetings.

· Support the accounting department with accounts payable information, entering and reporting inventory cost information into a database.

· Knowledge of product shipping and receiving activities.

·Should be capable of generating procedures and instructions in support of the ISO13485:2003 requirements.

· Experience interacting with Quality Assurance personnel and following FDA regulation 21 CFR 820 QSR purchasing requirements is a plus.

· Experience in manufacturing or the medical device industry is a plus.

· Must have a general knowledge of standard Microsoft based programs (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook,...etc)
