Revenue Accountant

Position Summary:  Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Follows internal revenue accounting processes and procedures to ensure accuracy of data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Credit Billing & Collections: Credit analysis & credit limit assignment, new customer set up & maintenance, invoicing, exemption certificate maintenance, credit memos, collection activities.

• Revenue Reporting: Weekly results reporting, deferred revenue accounting (VAR & OEM), feature key reconciliation.

• Commissions Accounting & Reporting: Calculation of sales commissions and preparation of commission statements.

• Royalty Reporting: Software royalty fees billing and accounting (OEM’s).

• Cost of Sales Accounting: Third party service provider warranty accounting, HW warranty accounting, SW warranty accounting, review outgoing unit report, and review & approve third party service provider invoices for payment.

• Sales & Use Tax Reporting:  Prepare and file all monthly, quarterly, and annual Sales/Use Tax Returns where applicable.

• Research and produce special reports and respond to inquiries.

• Assist with annual audit preparation and coordination.

• Determine proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions within designated limits.

• Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.

• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.

• Submit recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.

Previous experience in accounting staff role involving accounts receivable activities, general ledger reconciliation work, and month end closing procedures.  Must have the following:

• Familiarity and experience with researching SOP 97-2

• Experience with accounting for software revenue invoices/determining proper breakout between Revenue and Deferred Revenue

• Experience with invoicing customers

• Maintain A/R Aging

• Collection calls

• Heavy Excel usage

• Flexible to do non-Revenue tasks

• Accounting degree

• Minimum of 7 years of direct and progressive Accounting work experience

• Ability to work with others outside the Accounting Dept

• There may be days when they need to work more than 8 hours

The following experience is a plus:

• Macola experience

• Sales and Use Tax experience

• CPA

Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) or equivalent experience; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
