Description:

· Looking for a Informatics Specialist with strong SAS programming skills to support the National Center for Health Statistics

 

Details:

· SAS programming and data management skills are essential.

· Responsibilities will include collaborating with research principals to develop data cleaning and data management protocols.

· Candidate will also be responsible for Preparing query system datasets, identifying priority datasets, identifying which type of queries to provide to user community, to decide on measures to include in our systems query pages.

· Assist in making decisions regarding systems requirements, i.e. more or fewer cross tabulations, prepare SAS datasets which include the desired functionality to our users.

· Needs to be able to write the necessary SAS programs to implement such plans that will include creating data dictionaries and format libraries, importing data into SAS, writing SAS programs to combine/merge files as needed, writing SAS programs to identify errors e.g. missing data, invalid values and dates, etc. and if the protocol calls for it, writing SAS programs to clean the data.

· Responsible for developing data summary reports that can be auto-generated using SAS. An interest and ability to research and learn new skills as necessary is crucial.

 

Requirements:

· Experience and/or a willingness to learn how to develop databases, including relational databases, in MS Access and a locally developed software system is preferred.

· 3-5 years of experience in developing SAS databases, programs and datasets, and reports for subsequent analysis

· Significant experience creating data validation routines and consistency checks

· Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team to meet the needs of each project are essential

· Experience working in the public health field, a plus
