Senior Firmware Engineer - Enclosure ServicesEssential Functions

Join a dynamic firmware engineering team delivering leading edge storage products.  Primary responsibility for developing Enclosure Services related firmware for SAS/SATA RAID controllers.  Participate in all aspects of enclosure services design and feature development for large customers and chassis partners in conjunction with engineering, DEO manager, FAE and marketing organizations.

 

Secondary responsibilities include PCB bring-up/verification, Battery Backup Unit firmware, manufacturing self-test firmware and other hardware-related firmware for future generations of RAID controller.  Duties include design, development and testing of the changes, as well as engineering support for compatibility testing.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is required with 8+ years of firmware development. M.S. preferred with 6+ years in firmware development.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Extensive programming in C and C++ is required with a basic understanding of assembly language. Candidate must have an excellent computer science background and demonstrated strength in designing efficient firmware code.

 

In-depth knowledge and experience with the development of storage products is required; must be very familiar with SES protocol, I2C and/or SGPIO serial bus. Familiarity with SAS, SATA and/or PCI protocol and associated analyzers is preferred.

 

Technical skills should include code design, testing and debugging of firmware.  Must be self-motivated with excellent problem solving skills, and have good written and verbal communication skills.

 

Experience of PCB bring-up with custom ASIC and use of PowerPC, ST and/or ARM micro-controllers is required.  Good understanding of multi-tasking operating systems and experience using ThreadX, u-VelOSity or other commercial real time operating systems is preferred.
