Senior Human Factors Engineer

Opportunity:

Eastman Kodak Company, San Diego Systems Division, is seeking a talented Senior/Lead Human Factors Engineers who understands both the interactive user experience and the power of digital photography. We are looking for someone who is committed to championing design and usability as key factors that distinguish great products from good ones. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user experience design and user interface requirements definition for consumer hardware and firmware. This is a senior level position requiring strong leadership abilities to influence management and cross functional teams. This is a full-time permanent position located in San Diego, California.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·  Work with the user experience team to define the overall user experience for suite of digital imaging products, focusing on the hardware and firmware design (e.g. control panel design and installation set up process definition).

·  Lead and participate in product concept brainstorming and use case development exercises.

·  Identify, keep track of, and resolve usability issues during product development.

·  Work and communicate effectively with multi-functional and multi-national teams representing hardware engineering, software engineering, industrial design, graphic design, and marketing.

·  Participate in heuristic reviews of product prototypes at various stages of the design process and communicate findings to the product development team.

·  Develop and maintain documentation defining user experience design requirements to the product development team. Influence product development teams and the organization to implement the solution that is best for the customer.

·  Champion design and usability as core components of the Kodak brand providing a competitive advantage.

·  General willingness to do what it takes to design great products!

 

Qualifications:

·  MS or MA in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Interaction Design preferred.

·  Minimum 6 years professional experience in interactive design and usability engineering.

·  Experience designing user interfaces and user experiences for consumer product hardware and firmware.

·  Experience with ergonomics a plus.

·  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner. Synthesize complex problems in to actionable solutions.

·  Experience developing user interface requirements documentation, including workflow diagrams in a program such as Microsoft Visio.

·  Skilled at influencing product development teams to implement customer-centric solutions.

·  Familiarity with a variety of digital imaging products.

·  Thorough understanding of iterative user experience design process.

·  Ability to think creatively and to champion innovative design solutions.
