Position Objective: Develop control and communication applications for power electronic systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform system level design, development and support for power conversion products.Establish a unified development tool chain on Linux based system for use across multiple corporate divisionsImplement and support real time OS products or add-ons to support data acquisition and system control functions including remote communicationsMentor other software engineers on real-time Linux programming techniquesDevelop innovative communication and control applications for power electronic systemsCreate or assist in creation of support documents for softwareDevelop, debug and support high speed control algorithms using “C/C++” languageAssist in the design and debug of fixtures and software for testing printed circuit board assembliesAdvise and consult with marketing, applications, and project managers, regarding the design of new systemsDesign, debug and guide others in the development of various modules and systems.  Make modifications or improvements to existing and special projectsMaintain a pro-active posture towards reusability and quality.Be involved in departmental and personal quality and regulatory programsPro-actively define and suggest improvements to the design-engineering environment as well as areas unrelated to engineering



Minimum Education and ExperienceB.S. degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Physical Sciences and 5-10 years in practical software engineering, or M.S./PhD. degree and 3-8 years in practical software engineering.Thorough knowledge of C programming requiredExperience in C++ programming requiredThorough knowledge of programming on a Linux based OS requiredThorough knowledge of hard real-time OS protocols and techniques as required.Experience with communications techniques including network protocolsExperience with low-level programming for controller Area Network (CAN) and/or high-speed serial communications.Proven ability to utilize software modules from disparate sources to accomplish unique functionsKnowledge of digital signal processing methods, DSP hardware, and programming of microcontroller peripherals (A/D converters, PWM/timer hardware)Grasps a full range of applicable engineering principles and practices and has the ability for effectively applying accepted approaches to complex engineering problemsGood written and oral communication skillsCreativity and innovation skills required to solve new problems and to uncover new problems to solveGood Group interaction skills
