Western Digital is one of the storage industry's pioneers and long-time leaders, providing cost-effective products and services for people and organizations that collect, manage and use digital information. We are seeking a Senior Benefits Manager to join our growing team!
SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning, strategy development, and overall management of all corporate employee benefit programs for active and COBRA eligible terminated employees. Develops and implements strategies for the health and welfare of employees in support of short and long-range business objectives. Has the primary fiduciary responsibility in the administration of the 401(k) Plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts as the primary catalyst in the establishment of corporate long-range objectives regarding employee benefit programs Has the primary fiduciary responsibility in the administration of the 401(k) Plan including enrollment activity, terminations, plan changes, QDROs, loans, and communications to employees. Ensures compliance with IRS and DOL regulations Develops, recommends, implements, administers, and monitors benefit plans which provide value to employees, are cost-effective for the organization, and meet defined objectives Ensures effective employee benefit communications; works cooperatively with Business Partner Services in the dissemination of all benefit-related messages and material Acts as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, vendors, brokers, and consultants on various matters such as health and welfare plan design, contracts, plan coverage and plan renewals Directs the COBRA Continuation Program. Reviews and revises procedures and employee notices for program, and ensures compliance with current legislation Acts as a corporate resource to international locations and their management in addressing various benefits issues. Attempts to achieve greater financial leverage in negotiating insurance rates by forming international benefit pools, spreading claims experience over a broader population Acts as the expert resource in the Benefits field to HR and top management, advising human resources staff and management on application of benefit laws, such as ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, and applicable IRS Codes Selects, develops, and manages staff to ensure the efficient operation of the Benefits function. Makes decisions about administrative or operational matters and ensures the effective achievement of objectives Assures all company-sponsored benefit plans, including their design and changes, are in compliance with all relevant legal requirements such as ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements. Oversees the update and distribution of Summary Annual Reports. SPDs and 5500’s for all benefits plans Strives to continuously improve in all functional and position responsibilities in the activities related to employee customer service
REQUIREMENTS:A post-graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Management or related field (or four-year degree with equivalent experience; and CEBS certification; and coursework in benefits law and compensation 15+ years directly related Benefits management experience, with increasing responsibility, demonstrated ability to lead/manage multiple projects Experience working in high technology companies in fast-paced environment Experience creating and maintaining collaborative and consultative business partnerships with senior management, business partners and HR colleagues Experience working with international employee groups is helpful Federal and state employment laws such as ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, wage and hour, etc Proven human resources expertise in Benefits. Compensation knowledge is helpful Able to maintain effective performance without difficulty and be flexible and adeptly multi-task in a business environment marked by a fast-pace, constant change and sometimes ambiguity Excellent project management skills and ability to work to deadlines, often with short notice, while successfully managing business driven, corporate initiatives Able to perform gap assessments
