Senior Network Analyst with experience in VMWare & Virtual Server Infrastructure

OBJECTIVE

 

The Engineers' Group, Inc. is seeking for a Senior Network Analyst with experience in VMWare & Virtual Server Infrastructure. The selected candidate will be assigned to our client the County of Los Angeles to support the Office of the Assessors’ Network Administration unit for the design, implement and support the department’s virtual server infrastructure, implementing server standards and supporting departmental portal infrastructure, perform complex network and server administration, perform capacity planning, and monitor network performance.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

The Candidate must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:

 

1. Five (5) years experience within the last seven (7) years as Microsoft Certified

Systems Engineer (MCSE)

 

2. Five (5) years experience within the last seven (7) years in Microsoft networking including Microsoft Windows 2003 and Active Directory

 

3. Five (5) years experience within the last seven (7) years with network protocols and network security

 

4. Three (3) years experience within the last four (4) working with VMWare applications or be VMWare certified

 

5. Five (5) years experience within the last seven (7) years with Microsoft Exchange

Server or other Server base email services

 

6. Five (5) years experience within the last nine (9) years in conducting feasibility studies, analyzing data processing systems, and performing modifications

 

7. Five (5) years experience within the last nine (9) years coordinating with users to secure approval of the proposed plans, instructions and procedures

 

8. Five (5) years experience within the last nine years (9) in developing plans for testing manual and automated processes in one or more computer platforms, developing systems, and program documentation

 

9. Six (6) years experience within the last eight (8) years in communications supporting LAN and other computer platforms, including connectivity from LAN to

LAN, LAN to host, and Mainframe/AS400 emulation software

 

BACKGROUND

 

The Office of the Assessor has several local area networks (LANs) in the Hall of Administration and district offices that need to be maintained by highly technically skilled persons. The local area networks are mainly using Microsoft Windows 2003 Server.

There are eight Microsoft Windows networks with over fifty servers and 1500 workstations on six locations. These networks are heavily used and depended on by the employees to perform their jobs. The demands for the availability of these networks increased tremendously. In addition to existing permanent employees, a Senior Programmer Analyst is required to maintain and support these critical LANs.

 

CONTRACTOR TASKS

 

The Senior Programmer Analyst will be assigned to the following Information Technology projects/tasks:

 

• Design, implement, test, and maintain VMWare ESX server infrastructure,

• Install and configure VMWare Virtual Center and control user’s access to VMWare servers,

• Deploy and manage virtual machines using Virtual Center,

• Plan and implement VMotion on Storage Area Network or Network Attached

Storage to allow multiple installations of ESX Server to access server files concurrently,

• Prepare standards and policy for network user and group accounts to meet the network security requirements established by the department and the county,

• Establish Employee software Development environment,

• Maintain and applied critical patches for servers,

• Participate in design and implementation of Business Continuity Planning/disaster recovery plan,

• Ensure high availability of applications residing on virtual machines,

• Plan and implement back up engine on installed virtual machines,

• Monitor and maintain virtual machines,

• Upgrade and recommend new features to virtualization environment, and

• Troubleshoot typical virtual server issues.
