Senior Network QA Engineer:

 

We are looking for an experienced Network QA Engineer with a background in Operating Systems and troubleshooting techniques.  The ideal candidate will isolate networks failures in prototype products and isolate them.  Strong background in using the 7 layer OSI model, TCP/IP, and AppleTalk to troubleshoot real problems, and relevant work experience in a network environment are required.  Knowledge of IPV6 and Novell networking is a plus.  This individual will work closely with the development team to verify network design changes, new features, and iterations of already existing features.  Duties include creating and executing test plans, reporting defects to engineers, tracking defect status, and interaction with OEMs to investigate and resolve defects.  Most of the day-to-day work will involve hands-on testing.

 

Technical Requirements:

 

· Familiarity with network printing, network protocol analysis, and troubleshooting complex problems.

· Ability to design, create, configure, administer, maintain, document, and troubleshoot networks (cabling/switches/routers/workstations/proxies, etc.)

· Experienced with network protocol analysis software such as WireShark/Ethereal, Sniffer, etc.

· Programming experience is a plus, especially to create test automation: C, C++, Perl, and Python.

· Administrator level knowledge of multiple operating systems and their interoperation: Windows (All versions including all server versions, Terminal Server and Cluster Server), MacOS, NetWare, Linux, Unix.

· Ability to find network, system, and other defects, and isolate them.

· Experience working in an engineering environment

· Strong troubleshooting experience

· Good written and verbal communication skills

· Ability to review current processes and recommend process improvements is a plus.

· Detail-focused and able to work with minimal supervision

· Team player willing and able to work simultaneously on multiple products with various levels of complexity

 

Education:

 

· BS degree in Computer Science, Networking, or related field experience combined with 2-3+ years of related experience in the field of software testing, networking, and troubleshooting.
