Senior Program Manager-Kindle Sr Program Manager, Amazon Kindle SoftwareWe envision wireless electronic reading experiences that embrace a traditional book's simplicity and utility.  Starting with Kindle, which enables consumers to think of a book, newspaper or blog and be reading it in less than a minute, we build tightly integrated products that bring together the Kindle device, powerful software, Amazon services, and unmatched content selection.Job Description:This position will be responsible for creating and driving the software plan of record.  This involves working closely with product management, development and QA.  This role requires strong technical, people and organizational skills.  This role will report to the Sr. Manager of Program Management.  Key Responsibilities: Driving release planning and feature prioritization Working across the groups to identify and resolve operational, technical and budgetary issues Establishing a master calendar of activities, milestones and deliverables Monitoring progress across the groups Reviewing deliverables and sub-plans within the business groups, including technical specification, marketing initiatives and create designs Anticipating critical problems Facilitating communication and teamwork Recommending functional tradeoffs to deliver the operational product in the establish timeframe Other functional responsibilities include: Developing a familiarity with the broader organization in order to articulate requirements and discuss specific aspects with internal and external users Defining requirements to ensure that the appropriate cross-functional organizations are involved to effectively execute against the initiative or project Driving process improvements through indentifying “best practices” across functional areas or organizations, providing persuasive and compelling cost/benefit analysis for a given change, and helping facilitate the actual process change Maintaining all applicable project management documentation, including Project Scope, Issues/Risks, Schedule, Milestones, Statue Updates, Communication Plan, Contingency Plan, and Operational Plan Specific Detailed Roles and Responsibilities Documenting, communicating and administering key project processes Running sub-project teams as needed Facilitating effective meetings with agendas sent out prior to meetings and concise minutes published soon after Assigning tasks and completion dates to project team members as appropriate Managing a master schedule, alerting project team and management of missed or precarious milestones Identifying and managing business/project risk through effective mitigation strategies Identifying business and project issues to drive effective resolutions, making sure to escalate as appropriate Identifying key process improvements tat can increase customer satisfaction, reduce cost, increase efficiencies, improve accuracy, etcThe ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 7 years of management experience within software, internet, or consulting fields and should demonstrate: Ability to communicate within all ranks and across groups within the organization Ability to draft and manage comprehensive project plans to completion Ability to manage people Ability to multi-task against disparate projects and timelines to provide comprehensive support and completion to all the moving parts of each project Ability to proactively identify upcoming risks, issues and bottlenecks A background in planning and managing complex development efforts across the product lifecycle Experience with iterative development and product release management Excellent time management, resource management and planning skills Excellent written and oral communications skills Strong group facilitation and conflict management skills A track record of on-time delivery Extensive experience with project management (prefer PMI training)
