Senior Systems Administrator

Purpose

ARM relies heavily on its Engineering compute infrastructure and third party licensed software for the design and implementation of its products from hardware to software.  The licenses are predominantly concurrent seats managed using FLEXlm technology against Platform Technology’s LSF capability. The purpose of this role is to be a systems administrator within our Engineering IT team with specific responsibility for ensuring the smooth running of ARM’s Computational Cluster(s) infrastructure, the license infrastructure, the data management infrastructure along with the tools that manage and use it.

ResponsibilitiesPrimarily day to day maintenance of engineering computational cluster in CA (solving problems, reviewing logs and statistics, running management reports) Keeping compute cluster infrastructure up to date (upgrading hardware and software) for all clusters in conjunction with other local system administrators Providing technical support to IT team for compute cluster problems for all US compute clusters Helping specify and develop compute cluster and monitoring improvementsAnalyzing data from the compute cluster (analytics data + log files) and making config changes to improve cluster performance Collaborative administration, maintenance, support, and improvement of license infrastructure in USCollaborative administration, maintenance, support, and improvement of data management infrastructure in the USWork with local system administrators and other license administrators worldwide to provide a highly reliable and available service across all design centersImproving visibility, monitoring and usage reporting of our license portfolio within the organization

Skills and ExperienceAt least 5 years UNIX / Linux admin experience, particularly Red Hat Enterprise LinuxGood compute cluster administrator experience (preferably with Platform Computing LSF software) Good customer service attitude along with comparable written and verbal communication skillsSound persistent troubleshooting and problem solving skills Good FlexLM license management skills General scripting ability, particularly Perl, Tcl, csh and bash shell scriptsGood data management experience (preferably with Synchronicity and/or Subversion)Data analytics experience and skills

Desirable SkillsExperience of tool building/installation, particularly tools used in an EDA or software development environmentLog analysisServer & service monitoring and tuning Familiarity/experience with NagiosSun Grid Engine or equivalent distribution system

Educational RequirementBachelor’s Degree or equivalent
