Software Architect

Introduction:

 

The Physical IP Division (PIPD) design automation team, where there are three distinct development flow teams supporting the primary PIPD products lines (standard cell, memory and I/O), is looking for a SW architect to join their team.

 

Job Purpose:

 

The PIPD SW Architect provides senior-level software development/deployment coordination across all software development teams in order to ensure high-quality, robust software for use in the development of best-in-class physical IP in the various PIPD design centers.

 

Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

 

· Reports directly to the Vice President of Design Automation

· Key member of the PIPD Design Automation management team

· Establishment of a common architecture for all development flows

· Provide technical expertise in terms of ease of use, performance, reuse, maintainability, scalability, trade-offs (cost, technology)

· Set SW development standards, technologies and procedures across the design automation group

· Identify and exploit opportunities for software reuse

· Close coordination with modelling team to ensure tight integration with software architecture

· Coordination with IT to ensure that all development flows make efficient use of the clusters and that the clusters and related infrastructure provide optimum services to the development flows

· Coordinate specific development efforts with third-party EDA software/tool partners

· Interact as required with the DA flow development teams, PIPD Design Centers and IT

 

Education & Qualifications

 

· University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent

· Masters or PhD Degree, or equivalent, is highly desirable

 

Essential Skills & Experience

 

· Demonstrable expertise in software development concepts, standards and methodologies

· 8 to 10 years of software development with 4 to 5 years in the area of Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

· Demonstrable advanced skills in Java and/or C/C++

· Demonstrable advanced skills in Perl and/or Python scripting languages

· Experience with configuration management, regression testing and software release processes

· Solid communication skills

· Ability to work with a diverse team (different locations, time zones, cultures, skill sets, etc.)

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

 

· Working knowledge of EDA modelling technologies (e.g., verilog, Liberty, LEF, GDSII …)

· Working knowledge of physical IP development process (standard cells, memory generators and I/Os)

· Working knowledge of advance SoC development flows and methodologies
