Currently, the Enterprise Business Group has an opportunity for a Software Development Engineer to join our Enterprise Business team in the design and development of new data networking products. Job Descriptions and Responsibilites Include:  Software Development requires the application of broad engineering and scientific knowledge and experience.  Embodiment via computer programs of models, algorithms and techniques by which we administer, control, and manage communications elements and networks. Designs, develops and documents software programs including operating systems, applications, and/or network products. The individual will be responsible for design, development, test and integration of features for the software application. Understanding requirements of a feature and working with engineers to gain that understanding. Designing, documenting and reviewing the feature, implementing the feature in typically  C++ or Java [depending on subsystems involved]. Unit testing the various components and then integration testing the feature to shake out problems in the interfaces. Investigation of complex problems reported from downstream customers. Close cooporation with other involved Research&Development organizations (SAE, Architecture, etc). Working in cross-functional teams distributed across the various Alcatel-Lucent locations around the globe. Education and all minimum requirements Include: Degree (or equivalent) in a computer / electronics / telecommunications related subject. Knowledge of tools used in the development and development test environment of the application software like C, C++, Unix, ClearCase, Perl. Good communication skills. Ability to document complex feature requirements delivered by the front-end organizations in the scope of the application software subsystems.
