Software Systems Engineer

Generalist responsible for providing system support that includes hardware, software, software applications, and networking to customers and field personnel on-site or via telephone support. Provide a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service programs. Additionally, must be able to demonstrate "skilled" knowledge in a minimum of two disciplines. (Hardware, High Availability, Kernel/OS, Databases, RAS/Disaster Recovery, Storage, and Networks.) Provide post sales on-site and telephone system support to Sun customers. Will require 7x24 on-call rotation duty and or Alternate work shift schedules. Assist in ensuring Enterprise Services meets their Customer Satisfaction goals. Act as an interface between customers and CCC engineers, using Call Management tools to update all involved parties of activities. Act as an interface between customers and CCC/CTE/Area Engineers using Call Management tools to update all involved parties of activities. Act as an interface with Sales and Professional Services organizations to ensure proper support delivery is available for customer needs. Project management skills Customer relationship management Systems administration skills Typically requires a BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent and a minimum 3-5 years of UNIX or related experience. However prefers a minimum of two years of SunOS/Solaris experience.Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.Possesses strong organizational skills. Make decision that balance the long term profitability objectives of Sun.Sets customer expectations appropriately.Continuously learns and applies new knowledge and skills. The candidate must have a good workingknowledge of: * Solaris * Network * Data Base * Mass Storage * Veritas * Client-Server support experience * Sun system experience and hardware troubleshooting if internal to Sun * UNIX generalist, troubleshooting skills * Customer service skills * Working experience in a data center environment Solaris Certification or good working knowledge of Solaris and/or Unix operating systems. Familiar with Sun hardware products. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possesses strong organizational skills. Possesses strong stress management skills. Possesses strong account management skills. Possesses excellent leadership skills.
