Job Summary

You will serve as senior contributing member of a small team of software designers in the Broadcast Software group. Working with other software, hardware, and mechanical designers, you and the team will develop embedded signal processing software for products that serve the broadcast industry for the creation and transmission of multichannel audio programming and the DVD creation industry for the mastering and QC of multichannel audio for consumer DVDs.


Essential Job Functions:


Designs, develops, documents, and tests complex real-time, embedded DSP software for new and existing broadcast products.

Engineers software for an entire product design or a defined subset of a larger development program from concept to completion.

Guides more junior software designers.

Performs quality work against technical and schedule challenges, follows strong software design and process principles, interfaces with product management, and coordinates efforts with those of other software engineers.


Skills and Education:


BS degree with five years professional experience; MS degree in electrical engineering, physics, or computer science with 3 years professional experience; or equivalent professional experience and training.

Demonstrated proficiency in C and assembly language programming for real-time execution in real-world products.

Experience with a variety of digital audio protocols, codecs & container formats (e.g. AES3, S/PDIF, MPEG-1 LII, AC-3, multi-channel WAV, MPEG-TS/PS etc.)

Experience with inter-process communications.

Background in audio DSP, including Fourier analysis, discrete-time signal processing, sampling theory, and digital filter design.

Familiarity with integrated development environments, software source control, and general software practices.

Highly motivated and energetic. Passion for creating high-quality embedded signal processing systems.

Desirable Skills and Education:


Experience of video processing (especially H.264)

Knowledge of distributed systems and RPC

Experience of OO development (Java or C++ preferred)
