Sr Systems Administrator (contract to hire)

Company in the DTC area is seeking a Sr Systems Adminstrator on a contract to hire basis to provide system admin, support and maintenance for MIS, development and web site production environments.

 

Responsibilities: Provide technical support for enterprise, development and QA environments based on the Microsoft Windows® 2000/2003 and 2008 server platforms, Microsoft Exchange 2003, Microsoft SQL 2000/2005, Red Hat Linux Enterprise 5.0, Fedora Core Linux 6, and MySQL. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Microsoft based directory services, Exchange systems, SQL systems and network systems; installation and configuration of Linux-based systems; remote system setup and deployment; systems imaging process and image management; monitoring systems maintenance and management (utilizing standard monitoring tools); internal and external DNS management; keeping all systems up to date on current patches and service packs; and maintaining backup systems and processes to protect company data. This individual will also share responsibilities for troubleshooting and configuration of some PBX systems (with training). A good understanding of network fundamentals across an Enterprise, and the ability to implement systems and network solutions from diverse sources are required. Will also serve as IT Specialist (Help Desk support) as required. Job Requirements: - 3+ years hands-on experience with Windows 2003 server and Active Directory management and implementation. - 3+ years hands-on experience with Windows XP SP2 and Office 2003. - 1 year hands-on experience with Exchange 2003 systems, including anti-spam and anti-virus measures. - 6 months hands-on experience in Linux server system builds and configuration. - Eexperience configuring IIS and Apache servers. - Working knowledge of TCP/IP, AD integrated DNS and other network protocols and services. - Working knowledge of corporate LAN, WAN, WWW and wireless networks. - Configuration and utilization of monitoring systems such as Microsoft Operations Manager, Nagios, or other similar products. - Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 MCP or MCSE certification preferred. - Experience with Enterprise AntiVirus applications. - Understanding of the Microsoft Security model, including forest/domain security, ISA server functionality, SSL certificates. - The ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines. - Strong analytical and customer service skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. - 24x7 On-Call rotation. - Requires excellent communication and people skills.
