Job ID: 9313Position Title: Sr. UNIX Systems AdministratorWorking Location: Illinois-DeerfieldEmployment Status: Full-Time RegularRequired Experience: 5 yearsRequired Education: Bachelors DegreeJob Description:As part of Walgreen IT- Infrastructure Unix Administration group, the candidate will work in the capacity of a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator and will be responsible for supporting, planning, designing, configuration, implementation, management and off-hour support of the UNIX server environment.Essential Skills:The candidates primary job functions will require knowledge of AIX running on System P (p5 and p6) environments with virtualization and micro partitioning in stand-alone and clustered server environments. - Knowledge of Sun and Linux is also beneficial. - Perform software upgrades and to apply system patches, be able to trouble shoot and debug server and network performance issues. The Candidate will need to be a self-starter that can work independently and with other technical staff within the IT organization and different business units. Qualifications:The job requires good organizational and communication skills along with strong analytical and problem solving skills. The candidate will need to be able to work independently and with other technical staff within the IT organization and different business units. - Bachelors Degree required.- Minimum of six years experience as a UNIX systems administrator, with at least four years AIX experience. - Strong knowledge of UNIX internals, and be comfortable with system installation and configuration, system security and third party software installation. - Understanding of HACMP preferred, but will consider knowledge of Veritas clusters. - Additional working knowledge of Solaris, LVM, Veritas Foundation Suite and Oracle preferred.
