Sr. Unix Administrator, ITS, The J. Paul Getty Trust

The J. Paul Getty Trust has the following employment opportunity available in the Information Technology Services Department: Sr. Unix AdministratorRequisition 2924 Works under broad supervision and reports to the Manager of Server Administration. Provisions, installs, and manages UNIX / LINUX servers in accordance with the standard procedures. Upgrades and maintains Sun Solaris operating system, systems/application software, and all server hardware and peripherals. Measures performance and availability of servers and applications. Troubleshoot problems and performance issues. Assesses security risk and exposure. Commands a high level of expertise on Sun Solaris 9-10, zFS, Veritas File/Volume Manager, SSH, JASS, DNS, DHCP, LDAP and PatchLink. Significant experience in supporting Oracle databases, and ERP systems (PeopleSoft, SAP, or Oracle). Experience in supporting Apache/Tomcat, Weblogic, Sendmail, SMTP servers, FTP servers, List server and Load Balancers. Proficiency in writing scripts in Perl and shell scripting in C. Bourne, and Korn. Undertakes special projects and assignments as directed by the Manager of Server Administration.  Familiar with HP Openview and commonly used server monitoring tools. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 6-7 years hands on experience of Sun OS and related system services. Must have a minimum of 5 years in solid systems administration under Sun OS and 2 years of LINUX OS environment. Experience in using Microsoft Windows and Office products required.
