Summit Developer
We are a consulting firm that needs a full time Summit Developer to perform IT services for our Washington DC client. Job DescriptionThe sought-after resource would fill the position of a mid-level developer on the Summit team . This person’s primary responsibility would be to assist development efforts on the Trading project. This would involve:
· leveraging knowledge of Summit ’s API to assist in coding the Loader Server Adaptor and Library to specification (experience with Summit ’s Open Loader API would be a plus);
· coordinating development and testing activities with peers locally and offshore;
· providing project implementation support;
· providing detailed technical documentation.
Additionally, this person would be expected to contribute to the larger team’s efforts to support the day-to-day operations of its two Summit systems (one operating in the liability management area, the other in the investment management area) and interfaces to other in-house systems such as data repositories, accounting and messaging systems. This work would include maintaining the existing code base, supporting requests for minor changes and enhancements, and overseeing routine operations to support production activities.Competencies
The TREFT division develops, operates, and maintains mission-critical financial applications. The recruit would work with financial trading, accounting, and data-warehousing applications, and should demonstrate an understanding of the needs of these types of applications and an ability to quickly understand new ones.
Using existing staff as benchmark, it has been observed that the level of maturity required for this type of work is more frequently found in candidates having at least ten years of relevant experience. However, the quality of the candidate’s work experience carries considerable weight in the selection process.
Candidates whose background and expertise satisfy most, if not all, of the following selection criteria are sought:
1. Degree, majoring in Computer Science/Information Systems, with a minimum of 8-10 years relevant experience in building Client-Server/Web-based financial systems using current technologies.
2. Sound understanding of and implementation experience with Summit Classic and/or Summit FT.
3. Demonstrated expertise in Treasury applications such as :
a. Liability Management systems: issuance and derivatives processing, analytics and reporting, mark-to-market and collateral management.
b. Investment Management systems: settlement, accounting and financial messaging.
c. Portfolio Management systems: analytics and financial valuation of complex structured transactions.
4. Demonstrated experience with Unix shell scripting, C, C++, Oracle PL/SQL, Crystal Reports, Orbix, Summit API.
5. Experience and knowledge of systems design, project coordination, development and implementation of complex financial information systems.
6. Expertise in documenting and managing issues and actions for IT development projects.
7. Self-starter able to provide creative, effective ways of overcoming project management and execution challenges.
8. Thorough knowledge of the institution’s technical and operational infrastructure, relevant institutional policies and procedures; ability to effectively liaise with all concerned units on policy and technical issues.
9. Proven ability to support major technology initiatives and tasks of the unit including coordination of working teams and maintenance of close and constructive working relationships with management and staff in defining and resolving technology issues.
10. Proven conceptual, analytical and judgmental skills.
11. Excellent oral and written communication skills

Seeking a mid-level Summit developer, preferably with experience in the liability and investment management areas. This person should be able to take a high-level objective and deliver timely results with minimal supervision. He or she should be able to work around the challenges and setbacks inherent in any project. Favored would be a candidate who had a high level of confidence, maturity, and commitment, and who had demonstrated the drive to achieve and succeed in previous assignments.
