SYSTEM SUPPORT SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY
Develop, manage and monitor the IPS hardware and software systems, providing internal and external support on an as needed basis.  Maintain data communications infrastructure for enterprise service center and IPS customer base.  Monitor emerging technologies to address special needs of the Harland customer base as well as ensure all IPS systems are running as efficiently as possible.  Complete special projects and setup new product offerings for the Harland IPS enterprise service center.  Support the Network Support Services product offerings to Item Processing Clients.  Additional responsibilities include: maintain disaster recovery system readiness, perform MIS function for local center and coordinate with corporate on assigned enterprise wide projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain the image systems and all ancillary hardware for Harland Financial Solutions enterprise service center located in Orlando as well as redundant systems located in Cincinnati for disaster recovery purposes.
• Provide second and third level support to the customer support and conversion teams for system related issues.  Other support as may be needed from time-to-time.
• Responsible for implementing new product offerings as they evolve.  This includes coordinating with vendors on the requirements, implementation and support of these offerings.
• Maintain physical security systems of the regional service center and ensure established policies are followed for the granting and removal of access to the various areas of the center.

Position Details:

Full time, Exempt
Hours Per Week:  40
Weekly Schedule:  Monday thru Friday, but weeknight and weekend overtime may be required as necessary

REQUIRED SKILLS:
• Minimum of 2 years experience with computer software and hardware systems.
• Ability to identify and solve production related issues while maintaining system uptimes a must. 
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Workstations installation and administration, SQL language for Oracle 9 &10g a plus, Cisco routers and Pix firewall IOS’s, Solaris Unix admin a plus. Network and datacomm troubleshooting a plus.
• Item Processing and/or general banking knowledge a plus.
• Ability to work in a deadline-oriented and pressured environment.
• Some lifting required – computer equipment.
• Perform other activities as assigned

Education:  High School diploma required.  Some technical education preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 2 years experience with computer software and hardware systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to express or exchange detailed information by means of oral and written communication
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral and written communication
• Ability to see PC and operate accordingly
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift and carry up to 25 lbs. of weight (laptop, projector, suitcase, etc.)
• Position performs extensive close work and pressure may exist due to deadlines

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• General office environment
• Occasional overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.
