Systems Design Engineer with strong understanding of networking (DNS,BGP, Ciscos ect. needed in SF!

Basic Function:

The Sales Engineer (SE) role will support the pre-sales and minimum post sales technical activity with the new business Account Executives (AE’s).  The SE will work closely with prospective clients with the guidance of the AE’s.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:Assist the AE’s with technical customer presentations Gather technical information in order to qualify and quantify customer needs which can be matched with ECI’s solutions Provide pre-sales design support and solutions based on ECI’s standards Translate and communicate complex technical requirements and design considerations to current clients and prospects Serve as resident technical expert on ECI’s solutions Create visual aid presentation materials via Visio for clients Create technical network diagrams, pricing proposals and informational presentations Help to improve the technical skill set of ECI’s sales team through periodic training sessions and group seminars

· Define requirements for clients by performing site surveys of existing networks.

· Provide solution design by working the service organization team leads to develop the best solution for our clients.

· Develop product comparisons and explain why ECI is the best solutionAct as the technical evangelist to prospective customers for current partners and all vendors Work with ECI’s CTO on standards and solutions Acts as a liaison for purchasing, Project Management and the Technical leads Identify situations where a ECI Solutions are appropriate Attend seminars and other various training sessions with Cisco, Dell and Netapp to maintain technical skill set

 

Requirements:

· Understanding of networking, DNS, BGP, Cisco, switch, router, load balance, compression, routing

·  Knowledge of all ECI services and product offerings.

·  Experience with enterprise class customer management.

· Must commit to participating in two installations per quarter on the data/voice side in order to refresh and tune skill set.

· Solid understanding of Internet/data service provider product offerings

· Working knowledge of traditional electrical and optical transport methods (DS0, DS1, DS3, OC-3, etc.) and service provider metro network models

Technical Skill Set:

· 4 year College degree

·  CCNA preferred

· Network Appliance Sales Certification preferred

· Avaya knowledge – ACA or ACS preferred

· Understanding of LAN and WAN IP networking (topologies required hardware and routing protocols) and general knowledge of network security products

· Understanding of firewall, IOS, encryption, TCP, BGP, DNS, Cisco Switch and Routing
